Roe vs Wade Overturned

And Democrats are already not satisfied with "leaving it up to each state". They always want to use the federal government to impose their will.

As for red states prohibiting citizens from traveling to other states to receive an abortion, IF that happens, I'm sure that would be challenged and found to be un-Constitutional.

This idea that SCOTUS somehow made an unreasonable decision is absurd. The Constitutional argument for kicking it to the states is there, and strong. Much stronger than the original reasoning for Roe, which even RBG acknowledged was judicial activism.

And as another poster has already acknowledged, both sides will attempt to influence the other. It's never the one-way street some like to imply it is.

Personally, my hope is that eventually states will hammer out fair abortion laws. I don't think abortions should be banned, but I'm not against limits. Both sides need to approach this with reason, but reason is rarely found in politics.

On another note, why do you think Dem lawmakers are not attempting to pass legislation through Congress to legalize abortion at the federal level? They have control, but don't seem to be using it. Instead, their denouncing SCOTUS for not making law, which is of course the job of Congress, not the court.

Have seen this question brought up several times. The answer obviously is that it would never pass the Senate. We may at times not like the filibuster rule, but it does prevent bad Federal law being made by the vagaries of public whim. The Republicans will not be able to pass a federal abortion ban for the same reason Democrats will not be able to pass a pro-abortion law and I think it is a good thing.

I’m assuming you prefer a profit-based insurance conglomerate that has your best interests at heart when they tell you what you can and can’t do with your body? Lol
You obviously have no experience with Medicaid vs private insurance. I'm not saying that private insurors don't have profit at the forefront, but dealing with TennCare is literally the biggest pain in my business ass.

Are you positive there are no pro-choice Republicans? Are you sure if they set a viability limit that some Republicans wouldn't be swayed? There is no legitimate excuse for doing nothing. Even if it failed in the end, it would be a more productive use of their time than all the hearings they are always having. I mean, if the issue really matters to them. If it doesn't, then it makes absolute sense for them to sit on their thumbs and do absolutely nothing. But in that case, they should stop with the faux outrage (which we know they won't).

They have a chance to do something and at least force a vote on the matter. Instead, their crying and screaming and yelling about how evil SCOTUS and the Republicans are. To me, that means trying to drum up votes is more important to them than actually acting on something they claim to believe in.

In this case, the consumer has options. They may not be good ones, but they have options. For government healthcare to supposedly work and have the appearance of being fair, laws are written to prevent those of means from going outside the system, including doctors performing procedures for pay outside the system. Dig into Canada's system and the medical vacation system that (illegally mind you) get around the horrendous wait times to see specialists in Canada.

I do not like our system. As I have said several times during these debates, our system with insurance companies is a pricing positive feedback system that makes it horribly expensive, but it does deliver with reasonable time frames compared to Canada. If you want an example of a medical field with balanced feedback for level of service and prices, examine plastic surgery.

If the car repair industry follows this drive towards "repair" insurance, car repairs prices will do the same thing.

Are we to assume that you want the people in control of our government now running our health care ? You actually think that people that have a net worth of $120 million knows , can relate to or cares what your best interests are?

This is the answer.
I know that. I'm pointing it out to the liberals on the board. The people they support and seem to think so highly of are doing nothing. This is how politicians, on both sides, work. Make promises they never intend to keep to gain or maintain power. They don't give a damn about their constituents/supporters. They just want to be in control.

Oh I think he knows what dealing with the government is like in health care , it’s hard to be around the health care field and not know . That’s without touching on any of the extras you are going to get when they find out who’s paying the bill .

“Suction Curettage: between 6 to 14 weeks after LMP
This is the most common surgical abortion procedure. Because the baby is larger, the doctor must first stretch open the cervix using metal rods. Opening the cervix may be painful, so local or general anesthesia is typically needed. After the cervix is stretched open, the doctor inserts a hard plastic tube into the uterus, then connects this tube to a suction machine. The suction pulls the fetus’ body apart and out of the uterus. The doctor may also use a loop-shaped knife called a curette to scrape the fetus and fetal parts out of the uterus. (The doctor may refer to the fetus and fetal parts as the “products of conception.”).

Dilation and Evacuation (D&E): between 13 to 24 weeks after LMP
This surgical abortion is done during the second trimester of pregnancy. At this point in pregnancy, the fetus is too large to be broken up by suction alone and will not pass through the suction tubing. In this procedure, the cervix must be opened wider than in a first trimester abortion. This is done by inserting numerous thin rods made of seaweed a day or two before the abortion. Once the cervix is stretched open the doctor pulls out the fetal parts with forceps. The fetus’ skull is crushed to ease removal. A sharp tool (called a curette) is also used to scrape out the contents of the uterus, removing any remaining tissue.

Dilation and Extraction (D&X) (partial-birth abortion): from 20 weeks after LMP to full-term
This procedure takes three days. During the first two days, the cervix is stretched open using thin rods made of seaweed, and medication is given for pain. On the third day, the abortion doctor uses ultrasound to locate the legs of the fetus. Grasping a leg with forceps, the doctor delivers the fetus up to the head. Next, scissors are inserted into the base of the skull to create an opening. A suction catheter is placed into the opening to remove the brain. The skull collapses and the fetus is removed.”

Read this. If you support this you support the butchering and dismembering of babies. There are no other options or other viable opinions. Face it. Admit it. And stop it.

Praise God Roe was overturned. Praise God many states have abortion as illegal right now. And hopefully the rest follow.
"Praise God my religious beliefs are finally forced on everyone" sums it up.
