Roe vs Wade Overturned

I guess I think this has some good upside for democrats. I think the centrist view is that women deserve choice. I think conservative states’ trigger laws that effectively ban abortions after a point when you may not even know you’re pregnant are WAY to the right. It would be an easy campaign issue for a democrat in those areas to be centrist and win elections they would not otherwise win. This actually has the possibility of turning deep red states more blue.
It doesn't, because despite what the news would tell you abortion is near or at the bottom in terms of importance to most voters. A person campaigning on abortion alone wouldn't make it out of primaries. Heck, they probably wouldn't even get enough petition signatures to participate.

Libs of tik tok are not for the above post... they are saying that's what they left wants not that they agree
I'll ignore the "They literally want you dead" typed by Libs of TikTok to nuance my post.

The poster who typed that message retweeted by LoTT should be advised against making rural America "pay". The rioters (if it came to that) would be mowed down by armed militia. It would make the Kyle Rittenhouse outcome look tame by comparison.

I think about of people in rural areas would be ready and willing to take on whomever come to burn their homes. Most are armed to the teeth. Not sure what a bunch of multi colored hair vagina hat wearing sissy are gonna do besides cry. Your 100% correct

Agree with us, or get the **** out. For a party that cries non-stop about freedom and liberty, y'all sure do take an absolutist, statist position on things.
Do you have a cut off or is abortion fine up up until birth? This isn’t just for you but anyone in support.

Hard to compromise with bigots. Nor should we.

There were also plenty of people saying they would leave post-Biden. I think the point everyone is missing is that this SCOTUS has shown time and time again that it will allow the state to **** all over your rights if you are a marginalized group. They basically took the 9th and 14th and said "too bad, lol". Libertarians should be horrified by the opinion, unless they are larping as most do on this board.
Bigots? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Will this topic be bigger than economy? Not anytime soon. The left can try to use this as the battle cry but until the dinner table issues are taken care of this is a moot point for the next few election cycles. The left does need to get back to being centrist and leave the social issues as primary topics. It’s not working

Let's hope cooler heads prevail and it doesn't come to that, my friend

I have no clue what I was supposed to see there. You appear to have just sent me a link to their main page?

I imagine that is a foreign person that made that post. Any American with an ounce of intelligence would not post something like that thinking it would help things. Plus, as you said, it would be rightfully met with the full force of locals.

That's incredibly gracious of you, zep. I hate to point out that Americans can be incredibly emotional and stupid. And, this may be a tough pill to swallow because of how we see ourselves, but that extends to "thoughtful", "reasoned", and "peaceful" liberals.

Depends on what would be banned. The extremists on the left have no problem killing a baby on the day a woman goes into labor. Partial birth abortions are insane.

But then there are the extremists on the right that want fertilized eggs carried to term.

The US has been way more liberal than most countries when considering in which trimester the abortion is executed. I believe some use when heartbeats can be detected. Or when a fetus can feel pain.

There should be a reasonable middle ground but right now the middle ground is how extreme each state’s laws are. I’ll be surprised if the Federal Government doesn’t jump back into the middle of the battle.

The Federals need to stay out of it and let the voters in each state decide. But I do agree that there needs to be a middle ground.

Supreme Court leak confirms Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s prescient warning about Roe v. Wade

Ginsburg warned against major judicial shifts in a 1992 lecture at New York University, citing Roe as an example.

“Measured motions seem to me right, in the main, for constitutional as well as common law adjudication,” she argued. “Doctrinal limbs too swiftly shaped, experience teaches, may prove unstable. The most prominent example in recent decades is Roe v. Wade.”

Ginsburg noted that Roe struck down far more than the specific Texas criminal abortion statute at issue in the case.

“Suppose the court had stopped there, rightly declaring unconstitutional the most extreme brand of law in the nation, and had not gone on, as the court did in Roe, to fashion a regime blanketing the subject, a set of rules that displaced virtually every state law then in force,” she said. “A less encompassing Roe, one that merely struck down the extreme Texas law and went no further on that day, I believe and will summarize why, might have served to reduce rather than to fuel controversy.”

Trump was right again. See 6:30 and 9:30 marks of the video specifically.

He said he would, got elected and finished what he said he would do. This is why you elect people to represent your vote. Obama ran on codify abortion in his first election and failed to do it when it was easiest. That’s a difference in leadership, do what you say you’re going to do.
