Agree completely. I'm sure he regrets not taking the TN offer last year, especially when it became apparent he indeed never had a shot at being promoted to DC if Martinez left.
I'm not sure why he would have come to TN exept perhaps for a bit more money. We all ready have perhaps the best recruiting coordinator in the country who also holds the title Assistant Head Coach and is a D line coach. Those are exactly the same positions Garner has at UGA. He wouldn't even be able to get a lateral position at UT. Garner to UT as UT is currently staffed is just silly.
If Gardner can recruit like that the Vols can find a place for him. All the players he can bring in is worth that. Thats why i laughed when all the so called experts said Kiffin didnt know the south to recruit well he go alot of good recuriters from everywhere that did know the south. lol(Thompson,Gran,Reeves,Ed O) Kiffin know what he is doing. If he wants Gardner he will find room somewhere.
He's not. I doubt anyone on the defensive staff leaves.
Garner also has a long resume of coaching TE's. He could coach on the offensive side on the ball.
Interesting, who's coaching TE for us? Is it Chaney?
If we have the money to throw around we could make Garner co-offensive coordinator and TE coach. Chaney would keep the OC position, and Garner could be recruiting coordinator/OC in waiting.
What did I miss....what ever is being smoked pass it this way....we have the best coaches in the game and if we didnt I am not all that fired up about Garner.....I think we better pay CEG and keep him happy.....imho...![]()
First off, I don't think anyone is leaving after one year. Secondly, If LT were to leave, and Kiff did hire RG, he would still need a LB coach. I know Garner can recruit, but I have never heard anyone rave about his coaching prowess. You have to be a great position coach to be on Kiff's staff.
