Word down here is Garner tried to resign but CMR talked him out of it for the moment. CMR wants to sit down with him today to dicuss his future with the bulldogs.

Agree completely. I'm sure he regrets not taking the TN offer last year, especially when it became apparent he indeed never had a shot at being promoted to DC if Martinez left.

I'm not sure why he would have come to TN exept perhaps for a bit more money. We all ready have perhaps the best recruiting coordinator in the country who also holds the title Assistant Head Coach and is a D line coach. Those are exactly the same positions Garner has at UGA. He wouldn't even be able to get a lateral position at UT. Garner to UT as UT is currently staffed is just silly.

Unfortunately, yep.

I am going to say the only way Garner comes to UT is if Coach O leaves, which is possible.

If Gardner can recruit like that the Vols can find a place for him. All the players he can bring in is worth that. Thats why i laughed when all the so called experts said Kiffin didnt know the south to recruit well he go alot of good recuriters from everywhere that did know the south. lol(Thompson,Gran,Reeves,Ed O) Kiffin know what he is doing. If he wants Gardner he will find room somewhere.

Somebody would have to go for him to come here. there are strict limits on the number of coaching staff a program is allowed to have.

If Kiffin is already trying to get Gardner, he must know someone of the defensive side of the ball is going somewhere.

He's not. I doubt anyone on the defensive staff leaves.

Garner also has a long resume of coaching TE's. He could coach on the offensive side on the ball.

If Wilson leaves you could move Reaves to WR's, Chaney have the QB's, Cregg and Garner spilt the OL/TE's. That is the only way I could see it. But I don't think he would be interested in that.

We shall see. It could also play out similar to this to get Browning on the staff instead of Garner.

Interesting, who's coaching TE for us? Is it Chaney?

If we have the money to throw around we could make Garner co-offensive coordinator and TE coach. Chaney would keep the OC position, and Garner could be recruiting coordinator/OC in waiting.

I think you underestimate or forget how huge of a part Garner played in UT's success in the 90's. I like our recruiting staff as it is, but Garner is money in getting the impact recruits. If we have the money and can create a spot, you can bet Kiffin will at least make a run at this guy. I think Garner was first on Kiffin's list before CLT, if I'm not mistaken.

First off, I don't think anyone is leaving after one year. Secondly, If LT were to leave, and Kiff did hire RG, he would still need a LB coach. I know Garner can recruit, but I have never heard anyone rave about his coaching prowess. You have to be a great position coach to be on Kiff's staff.

Did CLK not offer Garner a spot, with a raise, and he turned it down.

Sounds like CLK had no problem with Garner the coach.

Not good. The only positions he coaches are DL, LB, TE and we're stable at all those positions. Don't see it happening although I would really like it too. We would be in on so many good recruits in GA. CMR would be out of a job real fast
