I am hearing that former UT and current FIU S&C coach Roderick Moore is getting a serious look to fill the opening.

Here is an article on him:

And here is his bio:

Anyone else hearing this or have any information to add?

IMO, this would be a good hire. I personally would prefer Moffitt, but this would be a good way to go.

name has surfaced and rising.

I think had Tommy been serious at all, that would be done by now so sure CDD looking at otehr options by now and Rod would be a good one. Well known and liked here

You don't think it is dependent on what The Hat does at the Big House?

Moffitt would come to UT before going to Michigan but I don't think he is going anywhere. will stay at LSU.

Tommy doesn't work for Miles. works for the AD.

I am not sure if the door is closed on Moffitt or not. I heard some very encouraging things late last night... so I think some things still need to play out there.

I think Dooley is getting his backups in place so in case the Moffitt door is closed he can quickly move on and name a replacement.

I do think that Moore would be a solid, solid hire. I worked with him from 2001-03 and he did well then as an assistant. Moved on to be the head guy and has done well in that role.

Just seems like a retread if he has been here before! Sure we were successful with CPF but if this guy was here during that time learning from that S&C coach then I think we need to look outside the realm and infuse new blood!

Stanford's coach could be looking for a new job with Harbaugh gone now. Why aren't we flying the plane loaded with cash (well s&c cash at least) to palo alto?

I just don't understand why so many top notch programs are out there and we can't find a hidden gem to come in and most importantly STAY!

I like Rod's ties to Coach Stuckey. I was told that Tommy was coming in this week to interview.

doors never close until something gets done so I agree could happen. I just think very doubtful. TM too entrenched down there..

I'm leaning in that direction as well.

Did you hear it or take what Larry posted and run with it as your own? :ermm:

I guess I need some clarification... Why is everyone so enamoured by what went on during Coach Stuckey's tenure?

According to the Vquesters this guy has some previous player recommendations.

Didn't they win a bowl game this year?...

I'm pretty confident in Dooley as a smart man that whoever we hire will not be a "poor hire." This guy sounds good. & it might be good to have someone with an eye on the mental side as well, instead of a "ra ra" S&C coach, which has been described. Not that BW wasn't good, but that doesn't preclude this guy from being very effective! I'm sure our hire will be very good & I'd be down with Moore.

Rod is a good guy. He was the head strength coach for basketball with Peterson and it didn't work very well. Not sure exactly why.

I would be a little bit surprised if that's a direction Dooley went, but you never know.

Per Hubbs.

Probably because conditioning, cardio and strength wise, are a different animal from basketball to football.

Texas keeps poaching us why not take Mad Dog? I am sure he is angry and looking to stay in the S&C game and he pretty much taught Wylie everything he knew.
