The Woo originated by the band in the 90s. The director was sort of Nazi-esque, and it started as something of a "zig-heil" thing to mock said director. The crowd heard it as a woo, and it's officially here to stay.

The UT fans we're hosting this weekend at our tailgate absolutely HATE the part of Rocky Top when everyone WOOS!! near the end. They think it's less than manly.
