Started following hockey and the Predators about 3 years ago. In that short time I've seen them get better and better! Love it! It's now my second fav sport...

Yep, hired a new coach opened the checkbook and acquired some good players.

Icing is when a team in behind their zone blue line and hits the puck past the goal blue line.

Griz are fun to watch. They are a pretty solid team that plays the old 80-90 style of ball. They are only lacking a 3 point shooter to be a championship contending team, but the are on annual playoff team

I'm a Grizzlies season ticket holder and while it's a gritty style they play, it definitely fits the mentality of Memphis.

I disagree that the Grizzlies are only a shooter away from contention. The problem with the NBA is that there's only 4 teams that have any type of chance to win the title (and based on how the Warriors are playing now, I may be overstating that by 2 or 3 teams). Even if the Parsons acquisition worked out, the Grizzlies ceiling would be a second round pest to SA or GSW.

Small market teams have to nail the draft and free agency. Chris Wallace has consistently missed the draft and the Parsons acquisition will set the franchise back 5 years since they have no flexibility to add players the next 3 years.

I was stunned there were that many Vols fans there, or at least people wanting to sing the song.

Shouldn't be surprised. Nashville and Middle Tennessee are just as orange as Knoxville and East Tennessee.

What...you thought we were all over here rooting for Vandy? Hehe.

Damn right it's orange. I'd also like to add that I'm ready for these bandwagon Bammers around here to trickle away. They've gotten horrible here in southern middle Tennessee.

Nashville is not as orange as Knoxville. Chattanooga isn't even close either; way too many Georgia fans and bandwagon Bammers here. Also figured there would be a bunch of Yankee transplants at the game that the song would mean nothing to.

Sure it is. Polls have shown that, more than once over the years. As long as you're more than a couple of blocks from Vandy's campus, the Volunteer fans rule.

I even did a bit of an objective count a year or so ago...drove from Lebanon to downtown Nashville and back, counting car stickers/plates/indicators of team affiliation all the way.

I don't remember the results in detail, though anyone who is good at searching these forums could find it easily enough. Was something like 20-30 Vols fans, and nothing more than 1 or 2 of anything else (Bama, Florida, Kentucky, Vandy, and Georgia, I think I saw).

Overwhelmingly Volunteer country here.

As for the Bama bandwagon fans around Manchester, I know. Happens everywhere. Yes, in East Tennessee, too. Some people just less loyalty than selfish desire to be on the 'winning team' at any cost. *shrug* they're sprinkled all over.

NeverAgain, do you think of Chattanooga as part of Middle Tennessee, or East?

I've always thought of it as being on the border, but more East than Middle. Have I been seeing it wrong?

[nothing to do with our conversation about Vols loyalty, just wondering]

I definitely consider Chattanooga to be East Tennessee. The western part of it I suppose, but definitely East Tennessee.

What is your motive for posting this? Serious question.

Just noting the situation.

It was cool that they played rocky top, and I honestly liked that the crowd's reaction / singing with it showed something counter to the idea I had heard before that "Nashville doesn't like the Vols."

I wasn't trying to bring it down its appeal, just noting part of the situation (though, like, I wouldn't say playing it somehow empowered them and led to that score either).

It skeert Murray off the ice!
