A man that won the hiesman a year ago & only had two losses in his carrer & a couple of national championships to go along with that barely got in the top 10 & your telling me Meachem might be in the top 10? I dont know what to say to that. He better start catching some balls!

At the same time a TE from Maryland(Vernon Davis) who didn't really have a stand out college career made it into the top 15(mayber higher, I can't remember) based mostly on an incredible workout session.

The fact that we're even discussing the possibility of Meachem jumping to the NFL after this season is completely absurd. He hasn't even convinced me yet that he deserves to start for UT this season.

Meachum has showed so far that he is a overrated wide reciever at this point i would rather have Benji Shuler out there

vernon davis had an awesome career. you dont get drafted 6th overall on just workouts and potential. yeah his workouts raised his status but he was the number 1 tightend in the nation. if your number 1 at tightend in the country you had a stand out college career. some experts are saying he is the best tight end out of college in atleast 5 years

You're right, he only had 51 receptions his jr year for 871 yards averaging 17.1 ypr and 6 TDs. He also returned 3 kickoffs averaging 22.7 yards per return. 871 yards put him second on the list in the ACC and I'm not just talking about TE's.

Flat out,the guy is a beast.

Lose? Lose what? :dunno: All I meant was I follow college football pretty closely and I had never really heard much about this guy until after his great workout. You don't have to be a Heisman winner and have a standout career to make it into the top ten.

I think that we should all lay off of Meachem until we see him play healthy and with a QB that's able to throw the ball to him. He looked pretty good in the Orange and White game..

Having said that, I don't think he's ready to go to the NFL yet. A couple of good seasons could change that.

Meachem has been a player that while has played good has not lived up to his potentional yet. I remember a year or two ago Corso talking about him being the best WR in the SEC, he definitly hasnt lived up to that. I think he needs two to go 1st round much less Top10. Look at Chad Jackson he went second and he was a pretty darn good reciever

If he doesn't do a better job catching the ball I think he's goes undrafted the same as Chris Hannon did this year. There have been lots of fast guys at UT who didnt get a chance to play in the pro's because they didn't have good hands.

and then there's others like Joey Kent who never played a meaningful down in the NFL but was a TN favorite. then there's guys like David Martin who you never heard of who still remains on the Packers' roster and contributes. Eric Parker could also fit that mold to a certain extent.

you just never know how a guy is going to translate from college to the NFL....potential is great, but it's not a guarantee.

Now Cutt may have not been viewed as a gunslinger but he had a wonderful balanced attack. We have not had a consistent aerial assualt since Tee Martin left, damn near 9 years!
Did you miss the '01 season?

Meach caught another long bomb for a TD last night...It is looking like he may start for the Saints this year...If he does then he is gonna put the stats up in that offense...I for one am excite, it is long over due for Robert.

Meachem has all the talent in the world. I was in nOLA when he was first drafted and was disappointed. I hope he blows it up
