Does anyone know if we expressed any interest in this kid? I know he verbally committed to Bama, but it sounds as if that commitment has softened considerably with the coaching fiasco in Tuscaloosa.

This kid is a stud!

Why do we need another QB right now???

I'll assume that you're being sarcastic.

Ainge will be back next year. In reserve, we'll have redshirt sophomore Crompton and redshirt freshman Nick Stephens. We'll also have true freshman BJ Coleman. That's a pretty good lineup. Crompton was a five-star recruit, Stephens was four star, and I believe Coleman is or will be a four star.

Listen...I am well aware of what our depth chart looks like...my point is that beyond Ainge, NO ONE on that depth chart is proven. It's kinda like grocery shopping...Would you rather keep your pantry well-stocked, or do you want to run out of an item before shopping for more? A program like UT has no excuse to be anything but 3-4 deep at each position...it's what seperates the elite programs from all the others.

well a bluechip qb is different than a qb from tuscaloosa that people have to ask about.. everyone would know a kid thats on rivals 100 list or something like that.

we are done recruiting qb's for this year. it would be a waste to have more than four on the roster for next year.

Newsflash vavol:

Marve is from Tampa, Florida and he just led his team to a 15-0 season, capped off with a win in yesterday's state 4-A championship game. And by the way, he also finished the game as the state's single season leader in completions (278), yardage (4,343), and TDs (48). My apologies if news of this kid's accomplishments haven't made their way up to Virigina yet. I can assure you that Urban Meyer knows all about him.

Just because he has state records doesn't mean a darn thing. Why do we need another QB??? If we needed another QB we would have went after another besides BJ Coleman. We have Erik Ainge, Jonathon Crompton, Nick Stephens, Bo Hardegree, Dylan Dickey, and now BJ Coleman. So we have 6 QB's that can play if they have too. You don't give scholly's to people at UT that can't step up on the field and contribute if they have too. Plus, if you have 4 blue chip QB's on your roster and 2 might play during the season, then what of the other two?? I understand that people would rather stock the cupboards and be prepared, but even then some things will go bad and you'll have to throw them away.

Say what you will..my theory is the more the better. How many of the QB's on our depth will ever take a meaningful snap at UT? My final point in this topic is that the interest list that you all place so much emphasis on is largely based on a very mediocre Jr. season that this kid had. I guess what I'm trying to say is that this kid blossomed into a blue-chipper this year and someone is getting a QB that is ready to play next year.

Yeah and that would be Bammer.

Your "the more the better" theory works as long as there's no limit on scholarships. It'd be nice to have 11 blue-chip qbs on the roster, but we can't afford to keep stockpiling qbs at the expense of defensive tackles or cornerbacks.

And even if we wanted to add another qb to this class, it wouldn't be Marve. The only other prospects getting serious attention were Kinne, Cadet, and Chaisson.

Agreed. We need to sure up our Secondary before anything else.

Good point Jaytrain why would we waste schollys on someone of no use as of now when we have db's and wideouts that could have an immediate impact that have us high on their lists? Berry, Chris Hill.. not to mention other players such as Ben Martin Chris Donald Carlos Dunlap Harrison Smith.. But i guess we could just go out and get a few state championship winners to fill the available spots and leave the top 50 prospects to other teams..:lolabove:

There is a limit of 85 scholarships.

We do not need another QB. I believe we will have 5 for next year. That's enough.

Besides, we have positions that need to be filled and we are runnin' low on scholarships.. there is just no need.

Thank you all for your expertise. I simply asked a question and coupled it with an observation. I know what our depth chart looks like, where our needs are, and CERTAINLY know about scholarship limitations. Does anyone else care to jump in and tell me something else that I already know?
