Robert Hubbs

Yeah. I think Hubbs is good enough to start from day one but lucky for us, having these older guys is going to make it that much more sweeter so he can adjust to the college game more effectively. Can't wait to see this kid in UT orange!!!

That's the thing I think the OP is missing. Sure let's use UK as an example, their 5* freshman all likely are starters when they come in...why? Because there isn't competition at their position. It's not like it's Mcbee that we're talking about...you're talking about McRae who is one of the top scorers in the SEC and will be a senior and Richardson who is your best defensive player and one of your leaders not to mention a 2 year starter.

I agree. But just because he's better doesn't mean he's the best option. These other guys have been in the system longer and have a chemistry. I still think he cracks the starting spot or at least logs starter minutes before the end of the season but no way he comes in getting it.

I think he'll get starter minutes from day one, and frankly that's all that matters. Jordan, josh and Robert can all play 30 minutes a game.

You might get an agruement from KY fans about benching Wiljter for a Fresh next year...

Wiltjer quite possibly could be league bound especially in this draft. He will be a late first round pick because of shooting. Trust me Cal will talk him into leaving.

Your definitions of average, dreadful must differ from mine. Richardson is a nice player. I love his toughness and I feel like he is an overachiever which I think all fans love. That said, he is limited. And I'm not just picking on his ability to score. I think he is a better scorer than most give him credit for. Is he an above average player for THIS year's UT team? Absolutely. And I wasn't necessarily speaking of Richardson. I think Trae is an average SEC player, all things considered. I think he has games where he plays well above average. I think the team feeds off his play (good or bad). But all things considered, his play has been average at best this year. He is slower than many opposing guards and has been really off shooting this year at times. His FT% has dropped as well.

I would suggest looking up the definition of average. If you can name me 21 wings in the SEC better than Richardson, and back it up with numbers then I'll agree he's average.

Same for trae...can you name me 7 point guards in the SEC who are better than trae and you can provide the numbers to back that up?

I thought the same thing. When he is healthy I Trae is AT LEAST in the top 5 point guards in the SEC. And if he was half a step faster I would say 2nd best.

This is what I was talking about

Why would Cal want him to leave? It's not like he has scholarship constraints. Does he even have 13 players on scholly this year? I would think he would want Wiltjer's experience and outside shooting.

I see Noel and probably Poythress (he doesn't seem to enjoy things at UK) going. Goodwin may go too. Cal will have plenty of room without running off what experienced guys he can keep.

Harrow will also be leaving.

Really? I dont think Harrow or Goodwin are NBA prospects. Goodwin is a slasher that forgets to hold onto the ball.(good finisher when he has it though)
And Harrow, well to quote another poster on here, is just an average SEC guard.

Why would he want to come back and sit on the bench behind one of the twins or share minutes? Harrow was recruited over.

Why don't you do the opposite? You give me the names of 21 wings in the SEC that JRich is clearly better than and back it up with numbers then I'll agree he's above average.

You give me 7 points in the SEC that Trae is clearly better than and provide the nubmers to back that up.

I don't know that either of us could do that. You know why? Because both players are average or so close to average no one can tell the difference.

I don't want this to seem like I'm bashing Trae or Josh either. That wasn't my point. And I'm a huge Josh Richardson fan. And I have defended Trae a lot of the last two years. I think he is the key to this team and last year I felt he was one of the most improved players i the SEC.

You guys are trying to protect Hubbs against our idiot fans who expect him to be Kobe from day 1. I get that. You'll never convince me that a 5* scorer won't start for a middle of the pack SEC team that at times couldn't hit water out of a boat.

You kids and your "numbers" cause that will fully gauge if a player is better or not. The start or don't start doesn't matter, its about minutes and who is finishing the game. The shine with the second unit is an exaggerated concept. It's not like the coach takes out the starting 5 all at the same time. I doubt there will be many times if any, where Jordy, Stokes, and Maymon are all on the bench at the same time.

Check out mock drafts...both guys are projected NBA first rounders.

I call it the Cal effect.

I could see Goodwin in the 1st round, the NBA drafts a lot on potential, and he has plenty. I could see harrow getting drafted in the 7th round, if they still had 7 rounds.

Where is Harrow projected as a first rounder?

You're right, I hadn't looked at one in a bit...I know he was projected first round for awhile. I guess losing minutes to polson will drop your stock some.

Doesn't change my opinion though that he'll leave. Realistically they could be losing mays, wiltjer, Goodwin, poythress, Noel and stein.

We'll have 5 guards (Golden, Richardson, Hubbs, McRae and Moore) sharing the 3 guard spots (120 minutes) and 4 posts (Maymon, Stokes, Makanjoula and Reese/Davis) sharing the 2 post spots (80 minutes). Lots of minutes to go around for all of those guys.

Could be a good problem to have. A lot of experience and maturity on the roster too.
