he's another perfect example of a vol with unlimited potential that was never realized by the previous regime, but will go to the pro's and play in the pro bowl
I disagree. He simply didn't have anyone to compliment him. Ayer's problem in my eyes was that he took too long to show how good he is.
my point exactly he's showing his incredible talent now but he never had a significant chance to show it on the field until last year due to fulmer's resistance to playing young talent over "his players"
he's showing it now so he can earn a huge paycheck. Any real examples of others being held back by Fulmer's "system"? I'm sure Berry is pissed he was held on the bench so long
just look at the vols excelling in the pro's and think back to when they were in school...many of the top nfl vols i.e. albert haynesworth were only decent at best while at ut
Haynesworth was a head case in college but still made the frosh AA team. The top Vols still left in the NFL had pretty good careers at UT. They were also playing behind much more talent. There have been plenty of young players on the field the last few years but you want to stick to your baseless point.
His point is not baseless, it is rooted in tons of facts, he's just not presenting any specific examples, so let me help out:
1. Robert Meachem playing behind CJ Fayton and other receivers bc/ they were a year or 2 older
2. Robert Ayers not starting his junior year, playing behind Antonio Reynolds and Xavier Mitchell, who had his career highlight against Airforce (c'mon now!)
3. Vinson behind Deangelo Willingham (the shirt pulling master!)
4. Lennon creer behind everybody...
5. Montario Hardesty behind arian Foster, sometimes Montario didn't play AT ALL
There are so many examples of guys playing just bc/ they are a year or 2 older........I'm not saying that it's an absolute science, but Fulmer liked to play a senior over a talented so. or jr. even when the younger player would be an All-pro NFL guy, and the older guy wouldnt' even make it......guess he had his reasons......
I think that's waht the poster was trying to say, and he has some valid points, I believe.........![]()
