I have a question for those of you who have been to a road game at Bama and UGA. Which of the teams fans were more obnoxious and rude? I am asking because i have been to a game at UGA and will be going to the game this year at Bama and i want to know what to expect.

I went to alabama the last time we played there and I set right in the heart of the bame section and everybody was cool to me.Of course they did beat us 41-17 so that may have been y I didn't catch any heat.

I've been to Tuscaloosa and Birmingham several times for wins and losses and have always been treated with respect. As much as I hate to say it, they are a classy bunch when hosting rivals. My 2 trips to Athens, I can't say the same. Both times several fans and students were obnoxious and rude. It wasn't a pleasant experience either time except for the scoreboard the last time. Even the lone, brave soul UT fan who went to the A game in Tuscaloosa this year seemed to be treated well.

Yeah the UGA game was a little rough, especially when little kids literally bark in your ear the whole game.

From this thread:

1) Georgia
It's like Auburn, but looks nicer and with worse fans. The stadium was one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Set in a nice thicket and ringed by trees, the arboreal nature of the setting was simply breathtaking. The numbers on the scoreboard both years I had the opportunity to march there (96, 98) made it an even more beautiful setting.

I just can't figure out why the mascot is the bulldog; I've never seen more birds anywhere else in my life. Drunk fans, sober fans, boy scouts (not kidding), grandmothers (again, not kidding), all let us know that we were Number 1, saluting us angrily as we drove onto campus and marched into the stadium.

Bama has never been that bad of an experience for me, but I have yet to go to a game in Tuscaloosa. Both times I was at a UT/UA game in Birmingham, the fans were pretty nice and nowhere near as obnoxious as Jaw-juh fans.

Its just luck of the draw. There could be 89,999 well mannered, polite fans in a stadium, but if you're sitting in front of the 1 jackass.... your experienced will suffer.

The reverse applies to florida however, 89,999 jackasses... unlikely you'll sit next to that elusive, one cool gator fan.

I've never had a bad trip to Athens; those folks have generally been fine. Some good natured give and take but it has been fun.

It really is just pot luck; if you get stuck sitting near the drunken oaf, it's no good and that could happen anywhere

IMO UGA fans are worse. BAMA fans were actually respectful before and after the game I attended in 2007. Georgia fans were pretty rude.

IMO you can't go wrong with either trip. Had a blast at both places and the games were very enjoyable.

I found one in 97 (2 if you count his wife). He called himself "King Gator" and was a bit loud but shared his liquor with us all game. The rest of the trip was not as fun

Been to both Birmingham and Tuscaloosa and never had one problem at all except for the horrible neighborhood the stadium in birmingham is located around...The fans themselves are usually well mannered and I have made many Bama friends over the years...There used to be a lot of respect between the two fan bases...Hope that still applies as its been a few years since I've been to a UT/Bama game in person...It's my favorite rivalry.

I've been to 5 Bama games and 3 UGA games. The worst of those 8 was without a doubt Bama in I think it was 05. The year they beat us 6-3. They hadn't beat us at home in 11 years....they had fulmer ephigies (sp?) hanging from trees all over the place. On the way out was just awful. Had beer poured on me. Had two fights picked with me (which I finished). I don't know what I would have done if I'd have had a kid with me or something.

Outside of that particular game though....the UGA games would rank 2nd 3rd and 4th worst out of those 8 games. The other Bama games were not that bad at all.

I have a theory that the longer you've had a winning tradition, the classier your fans are. If you have no winning tradition, you also have pretty decent fans (because they just don't care enough). Where you run into trouble is with teams that have no historical winning tradition whatsoever and then all of a sudden they start winning. (i.e. Miami in the 80's, UF in the 90's etc...) The phenomenon can also rear its head when a historically successful program goes into years of decline to the point when a current student was 8 years old the last time they were winning consistently and then they start winning again or beat a big rival they haven't beaten in a long time. (i.e. Bama in 05)

I've been to bama quite a few times never really had any trouble my friends girlfriend saw 3 tn fans get stabbed but other than that ive never had an issue they will treat you with respect if u do the same. I have been for wins, losses, and the tie. I sat in the middle of them in 95 and stood up and yelled the entire game and none of them said a word.

It depends where you sit in the stadiums. If you're anywhere near the student sections get ready for a
PG-13 or X experience. I was in Neyland when the EMTs had to remove a student who had passed out and was seizing after smacking his head. The only problem was before he mercifully passed out he whipped out his pecker and was trying (his aim was a little off) to piss on some elderly couple from UGA. I love to see those Hope scholarships being put to good use.

First trip I made to Bama, they showed a video of Bear before the game. There was a Bammer sittin in front of me throwin whiskey down like it was his last day on earth, and I poked him on the shoulder and pointed at the screen and said "who the hell is that?". His whole crew laughed about it and were actually pretty nice about it. Georgia's another story altogether. I saw some of their fans making fun of a gentleman in a wheelchair, and that wasn't the worst that I saw. I'll gladly go back to Bama or Auburn, but I dare say I won't be back to Athens, especially with a young daughter.

I have only Been to Athens, back in 1997, National Championship run year. Both teams were undefeated and ranked in the top 5 i think. We were coming between the hedges without Jamal Lewis who had been injured . Georgia fans really felt this was their year to upset us. Me and my buddy made the mistake of driving down a fraternity road. the houses lined both sides of the street and i believe Alcohol was legal their on campus because the studenst were grilling out with kegs on the loan. Well off course we were flying the big Orange colors and we almost got in a couple fights , fans of course were cussing us and flipping us off, one guy had a ut flag and when we came by him, slowly because the traffic was thick, he put the UT flag under our wheel so we would drive over it. Well we know how this game worked out was great to be there in the fourth quarter and watching all their fans leave and also seeing our fans throw oranges at the ESPN gameday crew , rememeber they couldnt make it to UT vs. FLorida that year due to "Budget Issues". after we beat them i noticed the Georgia fans were alot quieter than before the game. Long story short they were very rude, as they have been the last two times they were hear and won in Neyland but a beat down shuts them up very nicely.

Yeah, UGA fans are much worse. Bama is cool because of the historic feel of the game. And the campus is nice.

UGA is the WORST...been to Legion Field several times...never to Tuscaloosa (tells you how old I am). Bama fans suck, but they don't get in your face like UGA fans...will never go back to Athens

I would like to go to Bama this year. Only if I can stomach seeing all the crimson. I hate everything about Alabama sports (as much of us have been taught since birth). :)

I'd say bama just because of the actuality of the rivalry there.

UGA fans to me just had 8-10 years of pent up rage they let out at the first half of the decade but really aren't too much more than that
