Currently we are ranked 13 in recruiting on rivals. A lot of people seem to have mixed emotions about this, some are arguing its a heck of a job given the circumstances, others say it still isnt good enough and that lots of teams in the SEC are still ahead of us and we wont be able to make up any ground with middle of the pack SEC recruiting classes. Here is some data about the teams that are ahead of us for consideration. The stats i used are from 2006 to present. I chose 2006 because it was the beginning of the six straight years of an SEC national champion. Each team has its notable accomplishments and amount of wins listed below it.

1. Texas Longhorns
-3 BCS bowl games
-2 conference championships
-1 national title game appearance
-57 wins (9.5 per year)

2. Bama
-4 BCS bowl games
-1 conference championship
-1 national title
-2 national title game appearances
-1 heisman trophy winner
- 60 wins (10 per year)

3. Michigan Wolverines
-2 BCS bowl games
- 45 wins (7.5 per year)

4. Florida Gators
-4 BCS bowl games
- 2 conference championships
-2 national titles
-1 heisman winner
- 62 wins (10.3 per year)

5. LSU Tigers
-4 BCS bowl games
-2 conference championships
-1 national title
-2 national title game appearances
- 65 wins (10.8 per year)

6. Ohio State Buckeyes
-5 BCS bowl games
- 5 conference championships
- 2 national title game appearances
- 1 heisman winner
- 62 wins (10.3 per year)

7. Florida State Seminoles
-48 wins ( 8 per year)

8. Oklahoma Sooners
-4 BCS bowl games
- 4 conference titles
-1 national title game appearance
- 1 heisman winner
- 63 wins ( 10.5 per year)

9. Texas A&M Aggies
-41 wins (6.8 per year)

10. Clemson Tigers
-1 BCS bowl game
-1 conference title
- 49 wins (8.1 per year)

11. Miami Hurricanes
-41 wins (6.8 per year)

12. Auburn Tigers
-2 BCS bowls
-1 conference championship
- 1 national title
- 1 heisman winner
- 54 wins (9 per year)

13. Tennessee Vols
-42 wins (7 per year)

As you can see tennessee is in, for the most part, pretty elite company. Only two teams have less wins than us during the given period and almost all teams have many more notable accomplishments. The two teams with lower win totals ( Texas A&M and Miami) both hail from super fertile recruiting grounds. We also have had (arguably) the most difficult situation when it comes to coaching turnover yet we are still recruiting with the big boys with no surrounding talent and no recent success to aid us. I think Dooley is doing an amazing job when you look at the facts. Will all of this translate to wins on the field? I have no idea, i hope it does but regardless i dont think anyone can argue with the mans ability to sell this program.

Great list. Considering we can even be in the same breath with:
6. OSU Sweater Vested
7. Free Shoes
11. Miami Vice
12. Auburn Tithers

The ncaa is toothless

The most important thing in that ranking is UT is 6TH in the SEC........ While you might think 13th is good, 6th in the SEC is not.

once you get in/around the top-10 the difference can be as little as one recruit or one star ranking. It's not the huge issue you're trying to make it out to be

Well they're not beating out LSU and Bama, not Florida either in the SEC. Best they could hope for in the SEC is 4th. Georgia is tough every year just because of the recruiting base.

One word comes to mind....

Reaching

So are you saying that by presenting actual facts I'm " reaching" on ways to defend dooley? If i wanted to reach I would have only included the last 4 seasons seeing as it would have taken out a couple higher win totals from ut's stats and slanted the data more our way. Say what u will but i think its a compelling point.

I'm so tired of this stupid argument.

I am too. Which is why I posted this. Funny that people still don't see why were 6th in the sec even though I clearly showed that we shouldn't even be near the top 10. Delusions of grandeur running rampant.

And most of them have been to BCS bowls recently(FSU, A&M, Miami, and UT haven't)

Forget bcs bowl games, 7 of them have been in or won national title games just in the last six years. been a decade since we even came close,

That dumb argument is all the negavols have to btch about when it comes to CDD's recruiting. It's pathetic. 6 SEC teams are likely to end up in the top 10 in recruiting but if UT is say, 10th, and 6th in the SEC that means it's not a good class? Such a dumbass argument.

They've just had a tough time building any kind of depth in the lines. That's where the games are won and lost. Takes time and not losing guys you've had committed for months to your rivals. That's what hurts the most. These teams are no dummies. They know this and continue to pooch guys out from under us. They have to stop the bleeding there or they're going to stay about where they're at.

These stats are good but look at USCjr they have top 20 classes consistently and are doing well.

Two things

1) I think - could be wrong - but I THINK you were going for poach. Not pooch. Poach.

2) there at the end you kept saying "they" instead of " we". Please alter your screen name to not include vol in it.
