It doesn't matter either way. If he wins no one will care. If he doesn't he'll get ample time to cement that and that will be why he is fired.

See the last guy.

The last guy had the two best seasons we have seen in a decade, back to back. The one bad season, along will all his bs aided him in exiting faster.

He was pissed at players. If he needs to use me to get point across so I can watch a winning team then so be it. All is fair. I'm not thinned skinned. He could have used a world war 2 reference like dools, would that have been better? Or a Jones quote where rainbows were mentioned. Now, I have said when he said this he only creates more pressure bc fans like you will hold it against him.
Fans like me are good with it bc I only care if we win or lose. I don't care about practice updates, I care about wins and losses. If he loses, he will be shown the door just like Fulmer was even though he won us one of our two national championships.

I'm still in the camp that 1938 counts in our favor. Undefeated, won the bowl game, and could have taken those horn frogs. So three total legit, with minor claims to three others that I'll concede others have better claim to.

Some were here and doing great, some weren't here for legitimate reasons

They were here for illegitimate reasons?

I agree with you about the '38 team. Clear majority of the polls and scoring systems in existence at the time selected the Vols national champs. The AP did not, but it was still in its infancy (3rd year), so shouldn't be given the weight it accrued over the decades.

I also accept the '50 championship, as a split championship. Think we and Oklahoma have equally valid claims to it. In an age when games could end in a tie, I think seasons could, as well. This was one of those.*

So I personally count 4 completely valid Vols championships in our history: '38, '50, '51, and '98.

* Note: far from every claim at a shared national title is really valid. Our '67 claim is certainly beyond the pale for most folks.

Lol fans like me hold it against him? Lol, ive said all along if he wins noone cares, if he doesnt things like this will hasten his exit.

One thing in your statement i dont understand, how does using fans make a winning team? It literally has zero effect, none....at all.

How does complaining about what he said make it better? Move on and hope we win six.

To each their own. I go by what NCAA says we have. But again I'm good with whatever. We just need to win again before I die.

The way I understand it is the AP recognizes 2 NC’s. I think the NCAA might recognize 4, but I’m certain 3, because I’m pretty sure they recognize 1 of Neyland’s NCs. NCAA 14 says we have 4 National championships, so obviously there’s concrete proof.

Random, yes. And meaningless.

Check out the stands in this YouTube video showing the 1998 Orange and White Game. There probably weren't half the number of fans that were there Saturday. And we somehow still went on to win the national title that season. One thing has nothing to do with the other.

It must be inversely proportionate so we won’t be bowling.
