I think the biggest and most important difference this year will be attitude. From what I have seen/read, the attitude of this years team is greatly improved. Attitude is the most important aspect of success of a sports team. a bad attitude of an all star player will result in poor performance, whereas, an aggressive attitude of a good/average player can make that player an all star. I think our team will have the right attitude this year and we will see the results on the field.

Everyone is bashing their rankings but what have our OL and WR proven so far?

Hunter has shown flashes but he still has to show consistency and Rogers was almost non existent last year other than sweeps. Yes we know they have all world potential but you cant rate anyone on potential and be realistic.

The OL is still very young and had growing pains last season. They were solid in pass protection but the run game wasnt exactly amazing. Anyone remember our 3rd down percentages last season by chance...?

Bottom line is this team is still young and has to prove itself before it deserves the accolades many here have already pinned on them.

I mean to read here Lane is a Heisman candidate but hes never seen the field.

Patience folks.:loco:

Many of us, including me, believe the Vols will be better than the "experts" predict. Maybe we're just drinking the kool-aid here, only time will tell. But I believe this team will surprise a lot of people before the season's done.

I think this season may be the most fun season in many years for Vol Fans. In general, our team has entered the season over-rated and failed to deliver. This year, I expect them to over-perform and maybe even have a major upset or two!!!

I look forward to having all the national experts that are ranking us low right now, singing praises to the VOLS by the end of the year.

Enjoy the ride up for a change Vol Fans and make all the side-bets you can. You may not get the chance again for a while....

Over the years, our beloved vols have not done well when perceived to greatness. While on the other hand when not much is expected of them, they rise to the top. For my 2 cents worth, i'm more than happy that no one is expecting us to do a lot this year. Myself ,I see 9+ wins this year.

I would agree that all of these predictions are based on lack of knowledge about our program. That's ok though because honestly, none of us really know what to expect.

Our OL looks talented, but it was really bad last year and still lacks experience. They should be a lot better, but it is hard to tell how much better until the games start.

WR is a position of concern. We have some supremely talented guys, no doubt. But they also had some issues. D Moore was clutch for us and remember how bad we were at 3rd downs while G Jones was out at the beginning of last year. We hope the guys step up, but there is no way to know for sure.

Our front 7 is thin and there isn't a ton of size or speed. We hope that Wilcox mitigates some of that by utilizing our DB pool more, which looks great and is totally under-rated in all the pre-season articles.

We should be better than last year, but it is hard to say how much better. If our 3rd down conversion rate is better and our tackling is greatly improved, that could add a couple of wins to our total from last year. On the other hand, a couple of injuries and it could be a long season.

I don't have too many major quarrels with the rankings. As for the coaching rankings, I am sure the knock on DD is his youth and inexperience but I like him better than several listed above him--Nutt, for example

Those coaching ratings are all about lifetime records. DD is fairly new at HC stuff, hasn't even coached a team to a winning record yet, does not mean he isn't one of the best in the league, he just hasn't had enough time to prove it.

Tyler Wilson as 2nd team is a joke. Arky has some talent but they are getting WAY too much love in the off-season.
