OK, the disparity is because this is not an exact science. These are all opinions of the person doing the evaluation.

Opinions are like butt holes we all have one and at some point they all stink.

The only true evaluation of a player or his class is 4 or 5 years later.

Thanx, I am a rivals subscriber. Would be interested in 247..Is it worth the time and is accurate for the most part...

Agreed. Also, keeping the players in the system and developing their knowledge, skills, and abilities is required to start wining again. Dooley's last two classes are in the system, and developing. That's why a lot of folks are expecting major improvements for next season including a wining record.

I don't pay much attention to the website evaluations. I did read where someone form Scout or Rivals admitted to bolstering Alabama recruit rankings just to get more hits on there website. If it wasn't for Volnation I would join Volquest for recruiting information purely to find out who we are in with. The top tier player evaluations are usually similar. The 3-4 star evaluations are where most of differences are. Just my opinion.

Rivals is stupid, It has Santos a 3 star and #15 linebacker in america. That is way inaccurate. Dalton is a 4 star and number 1 ilb!

I agree with the conclusion but you can't count the 09 class... it is almost completely gone.

Rivals has usually been more trusted. The buyout by Yahoo caused a staff reduction though that seems to have effected quality.

Scout has always been all over the place and not consistently accurate. They almost seem to make a conscious effort to NOT favor the southeast.

Not sure there's enough data on 247.

ESPN surprisingly seems to put the least resources into it and depend much too heavily on camps and such.

All in all, Rivals is probably still the best bet. None are completely reliable.

It all depends on the people running the site. Rivals is still the most reliable and consistent source for UT football.

That is their opinion, and they tend to be the most accurate of all of the recruiting services. I wouldn't worry too much about their ranking Santos so low, he is an excellent prospect that most teams would love to have on their roster.

I lean Rivals, too. I think after this next NFL draft, I'm going to go back through the 2008 signing classes and look for how good they were at predicting
- who lettered, and how many times
- who made All-SEC teams, and how many times.
- who made All-American teams, and how many times.
- who was drafted, and in what round.

I think all of those variable would correlate with the type of "success" that the star systems are trying to predict.
