It's been tough trying to get a blue-chip QB this year, but this gave me hope. Out of the top 10 2009 preseason QBs on Rivals, there's one 5 star player--Tebow, and one 4 star--Snead. The rest are 3 star recruits or NR.
Sanchez and Stafford would've been on the list had they stayed, but it goes to show you how accurate the recruiting analysts are.
I'd gladly take a 3 star guy like Sam Bradford who overachieves when he gets on the field.

I just want a quarterback with heart. something we haven't had since T Martin. Ainge showed signs of it through his career. but the Clausen's and Crompton....not so much

I don't think it's a lack of heart with Crompton. Just more a lack of skill.

The Clausens didn't have heart? I don't believe that. Casey was a gamer and Rick did a lot with not as much talent. They were competitors and we were lucky to have them at UT.

Casey Clausen played with as much heart as any QB in UT history in my book. That guy played hurt his entire career.

His brother, Rick, had below average talent and played his ass off, too.

What TN program have you been watching? Ainge played scared nearly his entire career and Crompton clearly has heart, he just lacks talent.

Yeah all Casey Clasusen did was win us games, no heart at all:flush:

Casey Clausen was 2-0 in the Swamp. Can you name another UT QB who's done that?

Casey Clausen was a gamer for sure & never quit. I remember the 4th & 17 he converted at bama when it seemed all hope was lost. With crompton i dont think he lacks talent but does lack composure not to mention he was pretty much set up to fail last year.

I dont even think its so much lack of skill with Crompton. he is very talented. The man has 0 confidence, hes is all vol through and through. the kid even said after everything he went through here he would still come back to UT if he had the choice to do it over. That says a lot. I dont think hes the brightest crayon in the box but i think Kiffin may know exactly how to work him. I could be way wrong but i think we may be in for a surprise with him. If you went to the O&W game you may have been like me and been in awe of his first three to four passes, they were money. Until he threw one ball too high and it was all over from there. If they can make this kid believe he can do it, and if we dont boo him when he makes a bad pass, i think he will be just fine this year.

If someone doesn't think Casey Clausen had heart, they are a fool.

Exactly. All he did was whatever it took to win and beat our biggest rivals. I still remember the 7 OT game with Bama, that was a gutsy performance
