The first 7 of 27 were released today. they are going in descending order.

27. Tyler Love OT Mountain Brook, AL
26. Lucas Nix OT Jefferson Hills, PA
25. Brandon Barnes ATH Bunn, NC
24. Stephen Good OT Paris, TX
23. Patrick Johnson CB Pompano Beach, FL
22. Kyle Rudolph TE Cincinnati, OH
21. Chancey Aghayere DE Garland, TX

Nix is the only one currently considering UT. Good, Johnson and Rudolph were all offered by UT before committing elsewhere.

Nix will likely end up at Pitt from what I've read about him. Johnson was a Miami lock the whole time. Rudolph was rumored to be a huge UT fan but ND is closer and we didn't push very hard.

Thanks. I wasn't insinuating that UT "lost" these guys. When I looked at Nix's offers I do not recall seeing PSU. Any chance he's holding out for the Nittany Lions?

No, the latest article on him said that he was going to commit very soon and that Pitt was very much at the top.

20. Deion Walker WR Christchurch, VA
19. Baker Steinkuhler OT Lincoln, NE
18. EJ Manuel QB Virginia Beach, VA
17. D.J. Shoemate ATH Anaheim, CA
16. Matt Kalil OT Anaheim, CA
15. Arthur Brown LB Witchita, KS
14. T.J. Bryant CB Tallahassee, FL

Walker says he is wide open and has an offer from UT among many others. Manuel has UT on his "short" list of 10 teams. Bryant lists UT as a favorite but I do not see whether UT hs offered him. I also noticed that Bryant attends Lincoln HS with Deshaun Barnes, who I have read is not going to make it in. Wonder if that poisons the waters?

No, but Lincoln has been a big FSU pipeline. I wouldn't be surprised to see the 3 that are looking at UT end up at FSU.

Here is my question. Is it more important to get 5* lineman or 5* skill positions? Another way of asking the question is this: Can you find more "diamonds-in-the-rough" in 3* lineman or 3* skill positions.

I agree on the lineman. I also think it maybe more important to get 5 and 4* skill players than lineman if you are happy with your evaluation with the 3* lineman. Does anyone have any data on busts among 5* lineman vs 5* skill players?

I think 5 star D-Lineman are the most important group. If you have 3 or 4 NFL caliber nasty D-Lineman you can do a lot of other things on defense. It's almost like having 12 or 13 players on that side of the ball.

Quite a few commits in this group. Hale is likely a longshot. He will probably stay in Big 10 country. The last 6 may suck for UT(2 UGA commits).

Deion Walker would be the only one that I would give us a shot at, but there's a lot of time between now and signing day and this list will change as will interest.

O, and though it isn't listed, Pryor is interested in the Vols. He really likes Cut and has talked about possibly visiting.
