Rivalry?

Florida has to deal with us pretty much every year to get to their season's goal. Even last year, if they don't pull off that last miraculous, we go play Alabama in the SECCG ...... and of course, we know what the deal is this year.

Otoh, nobody, not Florida, not Alabama, not anybody has to "deal with" Vandy, ever. They're irrelevant to who's gonna win the SECe every single year.

Bottom line, you got your opinion about, I got mine, and neither of us is gonna change. It's all good, let's leave it at that.

Maybe you aren't old enough to remember having to deal with Candy. The ONLY two times I have bet on TN was the line when Peyton was here. Lost both times. We have to deal with Candy much more than you think. They are in state rivals whether you are old enough to recognize that or not.

With those 2 losses to Snakehead, we're 30-3 the last 33 games we've played. So, short answer, no. Still just an obligatory nusance game, nowhere near a rivalry from our standpoint.

You got a gerbil up your butt?

Been following Tennessee since 1974. Yeah, I can recall some close games with Vandy.

But can you recall any year, in your lifetime, when Vandy was a legit contender to win even the SEC East, or, GOD forbid, the SEC altogether? That's all I'm saying.

Yes, they can occasionally sneak up and give us or another legit contender a game. But the road to winning the East, historically and relatively speaking, always goes through Georgia, Florida or Tennessee.....and literally never through Vandy, or Kentucky for that matter.

I don't consider UGA a rivalry, but I do Vandy. I live in the middle TN area though. My three in order are Bama, FL, and Vandy.

So if you consider GA a rivalry on the same level as FL and KY same as Candy, you can see where I come from.

You have your definition of rivalry, I have mine. But to state that your definition is our definition is pompous at best. I understand, you just don't get it.

When did I say my definition is the only definition. As a matter of fact, I'm on record in this very thread saying everybody has their definition and it's all good. All I'm doing is trying to explain why I have my position. But by all means, please continue to call me pompous, incorrect, and myopic. And feel free to let me know when the last time Vandy was relevant was and had any say in who won the SEC.

I don't think a team that you play once every 30 years (Georgia Tech) is a rivalry. They used to be a rival, but when the last time you played them was in 1987, the rivalry is gone. Notre Dame is more of a rival than they are, and that's not even a rivalry.

Please continue to give us yOUR opinion.

My own personal opinion here, but for me maim rival is Florida, then Alabama. The difference for me is respect. I can respect Alabama 's accomplishments where as Florida carries themselves as thugs. Georgia third. Vandy 4th, mainly because I'm southern Rutherford county born and bred and those folks on west end need to stay in there place. 5th is UK for historic reasons. By the way I was born in 89, which is why Auburn and Ole Miss are not mentioned despite the historic meetings

Alabama! Alabama! Alabama! Top 3 rivalries. JMO Beat Alabama. No, I'm not saying Florida Georgia and Vanderbilt are not rivals, but,Alabama and Tennessee are, historically, number 1 and number 2 in the SEC. Tennessee's job is to fix that. If Tennessee can consistently beat Alabama, Tennessee can consistently win the Eastern Division. My dream is to beat those arrogant SOBs
twice in the same year!

Best be watching the SEC network oh Mr. D4H of rivalries.

Our rivalries are Bama, Vandy, and UF. UK used to be one but it was cancelled with the demise of the barrel.

Yup i think of lsu as more of a rival but this is based on hate levels after fla bama & ga . .. even okla is more of a rival but thats probably misplaced.
