I didn't say Trooper is a bad hire, only that he's far less qualified to run an offense than Chaney. I promise you, though, that more players care about going to the NFL than they do getting a chest bump. I liked Trooper, but Chaney has worked at both levels and produced. Trooper coached a couple positions, got some faux-title of co-OC at Oklahoma State, then jumped ship to work in Auburn.

Chaney was a top 10 recruiter...to Purdue. Chaney created top 10 offenses and a successful NFL QB at Purdue. Let that sink in. Purdue.

Trooper took talented athletes, and they performed well. It's obvious he paid attention to detail. However, to discredit Chaney and talk up Troop like he's some God-send is outrageous.

i didnt say hire him as the oc,give him a puff named position and put him back on recvrs.or name him co -oc,clk has already made it clear hes calling the plays.what does it matter?

It matters because Lane's staff has the feel of an NFL staff and he wants to maintain a certain level of professionalism. Trooper wants to maintain a certain level of Martin Lawrence. Plus, he'd leave us in a second if someone else offered. Good luck at Auburn.

Why bring Big Momma into this?

MISSES:

SPLASH--GARNER-HOMERUN
SPASH--T. TAYLOR-HOMERUN
SPLASH--TEE MARTIN-HOMERUN POTENIAL

ALONG W/ DRAYTON WOULD HAVE ROUNDED STAFF OUT QUICKLY AND SOLID.NOW WE HAVE TO RECRUIT AGAINST THEM :-(

when you have momentum, continue until the job is done.all im hearing is silence in completing this staff and very little positive recruiting news....what gives?

i do know, boyd and giles were positively recruiting for us and should have been made a priority to get them signed.too much talent to dismiss on a whim.

garner hiring was handled poorly.trooper snuck in the back door at auburn and now tee is possibly gone to oregon.solid coaches/recruiters,could and should have of had all 3.

lack of sec/ceo experiance blew this deal,im still less than impressed.never had much faith in a leader who fails to adapt to his enviroment.

oh well, fire away and please impress me w/ facts and not just blind faith, hope and dreams.

ive heard plenty of that from wonderboy!
I see an opinion...not any facts

Let's recognize that playing ability has jack crap to do with coaching ability.

i disagree and heres why:

i think talent can spot talent, not always but more times than not.

i think their is a rare few that will play at a top level and will also coach at a top level.

problem is convincing them to get off their butts after their multi million dollar careers come to a end.

No I am right, I will say Trooper is a pretty good coach BUT how can you say Tee would be a great coach, yes Tee would be a great High school coach but the man has never even been a OC at a freaking high school. There is a reason nobody is knocking down the door to get to Tee, he is not ready. You are an embarresment to Tennessee, I know Lane does not read this stuff but I would be truely embarresed if he did for someone like yourself, I would rather sit here and talk to an Alabama fan than somebody like you.

because i can spot talent, its what i do!

That must be how Charlie Weis plucked Tom Brady up when no one else wanted him. He was an awesome player back in the day. Additionally, David Reaves did play in college. In fact, he started. Guess what position he played? Guess who started more games between he and Tee? This isn't the first time you've made up stuff.

Mike Shula was a pretty good QB. I can only assume he'd be a phenomenal coach.

i didnt propose he be named oc.also didnt say to ax chaney?neither will call plays!

Kiffin specifically said he would let the offensive coordinator call plays if he could find someone he trusts. Otherwise, he said he'd be comfortable making the playcalls.
