Excellent defensive lineman on Majors early teams. Passes away in his home in Florence age 61.

#235 - Brad White

White was a 3 year letterman from 1978-1980 from Idaho. Brad is one of the most under appreciated Vols during the Majors era. From his DT position, White accumulated 245 career tackles, 24 tackles for loss, and 4 forced fumbles. He led the Vols in ‘78 and ‘79 with 7 sacks each season and led the team with 5 sacks in ‘80 (19 sacks for his career.) Although he never made an All-Conference team, White was a dominant figure on talented DL. Brad was drafted in the 12th round by Tampa Bay and had a successful 6 year NFL career.

He died of a brain tumor tragically. Good guy and good player he was my supervisor when I worked for him many years ago in my early twenties. RIP

He was at UT when I was there, beginning as a freshman in 1979. I remember him being a very good lineman for UT.

You just had to be there, but those of you old enough to remember, I can still remember John Ward saying "BRAD WHITE! on the tackle!

Seem to recall going to a UT bowl game with busload of Vol fans. Two of the folks (from Lewisburg, I believe) had "adopted" Brad as a friendly gesture for a football player far from home (Idaho). They spoke of Brad like he was one of their own.
