Anyone know how to convert .wma files to ringtones for a cell (without buying a downloadable program)? I have a Motorola Razr and can transfer files with Windows Media and a USB, but the phone won't allow you to use them as a ringtone, as far as I can tell.

Thanks for any tech help you have.

I just go to MyxerTones :: Ringtones from your music!. It's a little extensive, and I know you have to upload files.... I forget if the hosting link they give you automatically converts to .mp3. Check it out. What are you doing downloading songs in Windows format, anyways, KD? Don't let the man get to you.

I'm not downloading songs. I'm converting them from purchased music to use on my phone, and I think the only filetype that can be transfered using the Media Player is .wma.

Maybe it's got something to do with the copyright protection? That's why I don't buy music online.

The razr should play mp3 files (mine will). You just need to convert wma to mp3. I believe dBpoweramp will do that for you and it's free.

So you have the songs on your phone but just can't select it as a ringtone? Not sure there, maybe someone with verizon can help.
