I understand the first game was a huge disappointment. but these guys are just like us, they just happen to be in the public eye all the time. These guys are giving it their all. Let's stand behind them and not be so damn hard on em. We aren't out there doing anything, we just sit behind a computer and bitch. I will be the first in line to hand you haters some crow at the end of the year...

With me, it's not about the kids giving their all. It's about the coaches getting paid a large sum of money to do the same mediocre stuff.

I agree, some of the player bashing is overboard. Sometimes people forget that these are college kids. At the same time, some players deserve some criticism here and there. It's just part of the game. However, there's a big difference in criticism and just all out hating on them.

When it looked like at some times on Monday night they looked lost, then you can't just look at the coaches as the problem. The kids knew what to do they just didn't get it done. Is it all on the kids, no, but I think a lot of it is.

I dunno. The wristband changing and a few other things make me think the coaches contributed to the player confusion.

As much as the kids prepared for the game throughout the spring, summer, and fall I tend to believe that the players just didn't get up for what they needed to do. Coaches may have contributed some, but not near as much as mental focus from the players.

I think we can all agree it's a combination of both.

I agree totally that bashing these young men is absolutely ridiculous and serves no purpose. These are college kids giving and sacraficing everything in them to represent our university to the best of their ability. The hatin' part goes to the people who are the paid professionals, and we all know who that should go to, CPF..............He should also want to take the heat off his players and accept the responsibility of that loss. Guess he doesn't have the balls, or the fortitude to do that!

If we can't criticize the players, then I don't want to be a football fan.

I would also like to add that I personally watched one of these young men go through the recruiting process with UT, and these kids are out there reading these threads, I hope the fans of UT realize this is a great recruiting tool and when you have an impressionable 18 y/o kid reading some of these stupid posts that bash these players unmercifully it will make a kid think twice about coming and playing here. Lets show these kids some damn loyalty and get behind them!

Don't see how. It's just going to happen anywhere they go.

I can certainly say some of the players needed to play better. However, I try very hard not to bash them (and I still fail at that sometimes) as they aren't getting paid. The coaches are getting hundreds of thousands of dollars, and the head man is getting millions. The football program is hugely important not just to the athletic department, but to the entire university. If we see profits fall there, the university will be in trouble.

While their not getting paid, many of them are going to a school that most of them wouldn't even be able to get into otherwise. With that being said, I try not to bash any players.

the problem is that the PLAYERS started believing the hype. they knew how shaky ucla's situation was with injuries and inexperience and they thought they would just win regardless. this leads to overconfidence and mental mistakes. there is no way the coaches should have even let them get to that point. U can not underestimate anyone at any time. It is ridiculous that we get shell shocked in cali by a way less talented team than the one we put on the field. Our guys thought they had the game won in the spring and never really put the effort or the work into WINNING. We have a chance to put together a successful season but its going to be very hard and the players have to lead the way. Wheres the senior leadership now?? Now is the time for crompton to step up and be a leader. Maybe someone on the front four will step and finally MAKE A PLAY. maybe a lb will take it upon himselft to not get beat on his coverage by a back up tight end. Maybe a corner says im gonna press this guy and not let him get anything.Things have to change in Knoxville.. NOW. i am embarassed by this loss and everybody associated with UT football should be too
