Ride This One Out

I don't get the fascination with Chip Kelly.

Yeah playing for a National title and leaving the cupboard loaded for Mark Helfrich to play for another doesn't make much sense does it? Believe me, I want CBJ to win but if this staff continues to lose and ultimately cannot get the job done, how could you not pursue CK if he and Philly parted ways?

If your scenario does come to pass, we'd be crazy NOT to pursue CK, along with with some very qualified others.

No cardiac here, db, and me drinks me real coffee just likes me whiskey; straight and no mix. I'm no big Vince Dooley fan, but, he earned my respect. These scooters that blow steam through their hat not knowing jack-snot what they're talking about, I find, somewhat, annoying. I've been religiously following our beloved Vols since 1956 and could not agree with you more; we really do need this win. Thanks for your concern and the post, my friend... GBO!!!

I got you, pepper. It's all good. I too like my coffee strong and my whiskey neat. VolNation is one big (crazy) happy family . Great, good, or mediocre (we have never really been "bad" - we are 1 of 2 FBS teams along with the OSU to never lose 8 or more in a season), I show up or tune in to cheer them on. GBO

While I dobt think Jones will ever make it, I am willing to give him another year for a few reasons as long as its not a disastrous 4-8 year.
1 More stability for a program that was on the cusp of falling in the hole for a LONG time before Butch came.
2 Depth is no excuse for the losses but lets be honest, if we want Alabama, LSU, Georgia heck even FLORIDAS quality depth we need another year for some positions while the others
3 Simply need another year of experience. Barnett, Kelly, Berry, Moseley, Kirkland on D and guys like Jack Jones, Hall, Robertson on the OL simply need more time regardless of our opinions of the coaching staff.
4 I'm worried that if 2016 was always the year, if you clean house and players transfer, recruits bail and the vetern Jones team has to learn a new system, it might not go that well and 2017 when a lot of these players are gone it could be starting over for the new coach. So might as well see if the full blown talented, depth-he-wants CBJ team can do something, If you still fire Jones the new coach still starts over in 17 anyway.

So as long as its not a disastrous season, as long as they aren't blown out by UGA and Bama and win some final games, hopefully make a bowl, I think its best for the program to go one more year with Butch.

finally a voice of reason amongst all the knee-jerk reactions on here

Let's see how the rest of the season goes before we decide that Jones is good for another year.

If he bombs against Vandy or Kentucky, he's not getting 2016

PRESEASON HYPE? PRESEASON HYPE? Was a 14 pt 4th quarter lead bc of preseason hype? Was a 13 pt 4th quarter lead bc of preseason hype? We're pissed at the coaches that have enough talent to out score their opponents for over 45 minutes, then fall on their faces due to inept decisions. No amount of player maturity or skill will change the math on when to go for 2. No improvements on the O-line will be able to beat 8 men stacked in the box. This coaching staff is incompetent and still hasn't learned how to win.

yes PRESEASON hype (i got caught up in it)told us we were goin to be 10-2 not butch, next how much football do u watch because i never new a 14 point lead in the 4th meant the game was a lock:lol:,next yes i believe cbj could use some more plays in his playbook and be more aggressive, but i also think he needs to pull dobbs.i never saw what every body saw in last years bummer game, after all he is the man on game day,and in the AK game he would leave the pocket with at least 3-4 sec b4 total collapse,he get's nervous or just dying to run or something, not to mention he puts the ball way in front, behind,or over all his receivers most of the time, but always spot on with his interceptions...last WHO R WE GOIN TO GET IF U FIRE CBJ nobody good that's who,so bear it for a few yrs, then at least another coach may think he has time to rebuild, other wise u get another instant millionaire:boobies:

Vince Dooley's 25 year record was 201 wins -77 losses - 10 ties. He won 6 SEC titles and 1 National title in 1980 with, yes, Herschel Walker. Overrated??? What color is the sky in your clueless world, Unimane? Good lord.... Where do you people come from??? Please, don't answer that; just go back to sleep...

He recruited an all time great running back and rode him to half his SEC titles and only national. Otherwise, he was above average at best.

What coach in his right mind is going to jump on board if Butch is fired after being allowed to only get 2 recruiting classes and 3 seasons to prove himself? Nationally, the whole situation would be more toxic than Chernobyl. There is a difference between being passionate fans and being illogical fools.

Face it, there is no chance Butch gets fired unless we miss a bowl. The program has been in an up trend ever since Butch came on board and anyone that can't see that is blind. This has always been a 7-8 win team at best that was hyped into oblivion in the pre-season.

Might want to start that search as this team ain't going bowling. I would love to know where 7-8 wins are coming from.
