I agree 100%. If we are able to string a few wins together and finally beat somebody were "not supposed to" we'll be relevant again. It can happen quickly..We've all seen it. The stadium will be full again. I think we've got a good coach that the players really want to play for. More importantly, I believe we have a AD that really gets it. He's already making moves that I feel will really help with recruiting. We need to get out there and get rowdy this Saturday a get a win against a quality opponent. Sure would be nice to be 3-0 and have some excitement and momentum heading into Gainesville. GO VOLS!!!

What constitutes real progress is open to each fanatic's expectations.

New coaching staff, new offensive and defensive schemes, and several new players had to temper initial expectations (although apparently not for everyone). I for one was glad to see the excitement, fewer stupid drive-killing penalties, no ridiculous basic misalignments, and an overall sense of purpose on the field and on the sideline. That being said, I’m an old VFL living now in Alabama, so it‘s Ride or Die for me and mine. I know the Tide will turn someday, I’m just hoping I’m still here to see it! Go Big Orange!

I think 4-4 in sec play 3rd year is adequate to warrant a full five years. No extensions until 4th season is over and if the team has continued the upward trend. Such as a 9-3 season. Can't go backwards. I like Heupel a lot and I hope he exceeds. 9-3 3rd year and give him a 1 year extension with incentives. I think he will.

This right here is what worries me. When Lane comes to Knoxville and hands Heupel a loss, the other 50% of the fan base that is actually on board right now, will break out the pitchforks.

I imagine by the third or fourth blowout loss the calls will be noticeable this year.
Arm chair coaches are already questioning his QB1 and lack of stars on the recruiting front.
You have to win early and often to remain an SEC HC for very long. Putting out a dumpster fire is a hard thing to do, sometimes it is impossible and the best you can hope for is to beat back the flames a bit.

I know it was BGSU but our defense still looked improved from the Pruitt years imo.
