Does this guy have a future in NASCAR?

I was surprised to see that he is only 29 years old. Seems like he was racing bikes forever.

If he has a future in NASCAR, he needs to be running in NASCAR every week. This one or two truck races every so often isn't going to get him anywhere.

He was good enough to run in the top 5 most of the race, then he was run into the wall. Not bad for the number of races he has ran.

Did you see when they showed his in-car camera? He had his hands full, that truck was not handling right. They showed Kyle Busch's in-car camera shortly after and it looked like he was running a caution lap. I'm sure part of that is because Kyle is good and makes it look easy but Ricky was fighting the wheel all the way around the track.

Carmichael was part of Bobby Ginn Racing before he sold out to DEI. I don't know if that impacted his development at all but he is still young and I think he's the type of guy that could succeed in NASCAR.

I'm a fan of his because I think it's cool that he challenged himself to something different. He could have stayed on a bike but he already achieved everything there.

It doesn't matter how good you are, you can't make an ill handling truck better. Kyle looked like he wasn't trying because he had a well sorted and set-up truck - the advantage of experience he has over Carmichael. Having to constantly work the steering wheel like he was means the tires are sliding, not the quickest way around.

But you have supported my earlier post that Carmichel was doing very well. To be in the top 5 with a less than correct set-up indicates just that.

i assumed you guys were talking about a future in the Sprint Cup, no he's not good enough to run in the sprint cup. If we're talking about Truck and Busch series then he probably does have a future in nascar.

I disagree. He has a lot of talent and he is a proven winner. He just needs more seat time and more experience so that he can get his set-ups correct. Clint Bowyer and Jimmie Johnson took similar paths to Nascar from racing dirt bikes. Although 29 is old by NASCAR standards now for a rookie, I think he can do it because of his name recognition. Someone will be a little more patient with him.

Still pulling for Ricky to do well. Looks like he will be starting in the 4th spot in the truck race. When are they running this race now that it got rained out?
