Rick Stansbury

I think what Stansbury did at MSU is arguably as impressive, if not more so, than what Howland did at UCLA. California has an infinitely better recruiting base and it's probably slightly easier to sell kids on coming to Los Angeles than Starkville.

Don't want either of them. They would be disasters.

Odd that Stansberry is still unemployed after the last hiring season, isn't it?

Maybe he came in second place a few times.

Stansbury has never been to a Sweet 16. He constantly underperformed with the talent he had there. Also, everyone seems to forget what Howland did at Pittsburg. Pretty amazing rebuilding job.

I respect your opinion but just think that BH would be able to convince recruits to come to UTK better than RS with his past accomplishments.

Good point. He has definitely put more guys in the NBA, which impresses high school kids.

I would not be opposed to Stansbury. Pretty interesting read......

Rick Stansbury retires at Mississippi State

Found this interesting...numbers don't lie.

Of the 6 BCS conferences, only 17 programs have a winning record or .500 in conference play in his last 6 years (2007-2012). Mississippi State is one of those 17 programs.

Big 12 3 Kansas, Kansas State, Texas
Big East 4 Syracuse, West Virginia, Louisville, Marquette
ACC 1 Duke
Big Ten 4 Ohio State, Purdue, Wisconsin, Michigan State
SEC 5 Mississippi State, Kentucky, Florida, Tennessee, Vanderbilt
Pac-10 0 None

Stansbury was a terrible coach if you ask any MSU fans; they absolutely hated him and had Fire Stans! (and worse) threads all over MSU and SEC sites by the time he was gone... they liked him less than Vols liked CM.

Frankly, I'd take almost any of the up-n-comers y'all are considering before that guy.

Then MSU fans are as delusional as UT fans. He essentially took MSU to the NCAA tourney every other year, which any program in the SEC not named Florida or Kentucky should be very pleased with.

I don't know if you get this or not, but ALL fan bases have a group of delusional, and often disgruntled fans, it is certainly NOT unique to UT or Miss St. It happens everywhere!
