Would a Rick Barnes hire make you happy?

So does Dale Ellis

I'm sorry but neither Dale Ellis nor Bernard King compare to Kevin Durant. He is two healthy years away from passing both of them on the all time scoring list and he is only 26.

Nostalgia may play a role for you guys but I feel like any non UT fans would laugh at these comparisons.

Durant: 27.3 PPG, 6.9 RPG, 3.5 APG, 6x All Star, 4x Scoring Champ, 1x MVP

King: 22.5 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 3.3 APG, 4x All Star, 1x Scoring Champ

Ellis: 15.7 PPG, 3.5 RPG, 1.4 APG, 1x All Star

Durant has 1 more All Star appearance, 1 more MVP, and 3 more scoring championships than King and Ellis combined.

King would have schooled Durant.

@Midday180: Just before show ended, @jerrymeyer247 reported Rick Barnes will be UT's hire. Jerry joined us. http://t.co/LLno7Iqt9W

Recommend listening. Pretty good insight into what we will be getting. Very good recruiting staff but lacking in coaching (still good coaching but comparatively to recruiting). Also Barnes has very good ties with Nike and this will help with transition and the design of the uniforms and alternates.

Last statement not remotely accurate, but I agree with the rest. This is a very good hire, especially give the current state of our program.

His 22 NCAA appearances to our program's 20, his 2 Elite 8 appearances to our program's 1 and his 1 Final 4 appearance to our program's 0 will accurately disagree with you.

I was listening to local radio in Memphis and they said that Hollins was interested in the ASU job. So I then assumed we could probably get him he was interested in that job.

Had to have been a joke. He is under contract anyway, and pro contracts don't have buyouts.

Too bad it is played as if it were a 1 on 1 contest now.

Not for the teams that win. Top two teams in assists are Golden State and Atlanta, who have the top two records.

Main point I am trying to make is KD > BK/DE.

And it helps with recruiting much more to say that our current coach recruited Durant than it does that Mears recruited King and DeVoe recruited Ellis.

Based on what exactly? Durant averages more rebounds, assists, blocks, and steals.

Is there an imaginary stat that makes King a more "complete" player?

What stat defines a shut down defender? I've seen them both play. King was a complete player. Durant is a tall guy that can shoot.

Then King is an average height guy that can't shoot.

I love King btw but the comparison isn't very close IMO.

Good to know the VN bias is alive and well.

He had 23 career 3s for 17%.

:lolabove:

King didn't hang around the perimeter and shoot over guys like Durant does. He'd blow right past the defenders and take it to the hoop or stop and take mid range jump shots. Then he'd shut down whoever his defensive assignment was. Compared to King, Durant is a lady man.

Made it further in tourney than we ever have... and have better NBA player than we've ever had... know those two off the top of my head.

I stand corrected. I had originally only looked at his career at Texas. His career does actually stack up very well, even exceed the totality of Tennessee basketball in some areas.

As far as NBA players, Bernard King is by far the best NBA player either team has produced. Also, Dale Ellis is better, by far, thsn any player Texas has ever produced except for Durant.
