Guy just got fired.
UT approached him when he was at Clemson and he thumbed his nose.

Now his career is flatlined and suddenly he is interested. If UT goes this route, I'm done w/ ball for a while.

People who are against Rick Barnes need to step back and take a look at the program

We're just coming off two coaches fired for NCAA violations and one leaving for a lateral move. We have a tremendous ways to go to even field a competitive roster this fall, and zero identity as a program.

This isn't a destination job. We're not getting Greg Marshall, Bruce Pearl, Shaka Smart, or Archie Miller.

We're not even getting Chris Mack or Mick Cronin.

The decision is between guys like Richard Pitino, Michael White, Chris Holtmann, Will Wade, and apparently Rick Barnes. From that list if you can't see Barnes is far and away the best option, I don't know what to tell you.

Barnes comes in and immediately brings credibility to the program. Is he perfect? No. But you can find more positives than negatives with him, and he brings more to the table than all those other 3rd tier guys combined.

It would be an unbelievably good hire for the position we're in

I agree he also has recruiting ties that we could really use.

If we do hire Rick Barnes do we get him in here for an interview tomorrow, and then introduce him Tuesday? I think if we're planning on getting him we should get everything nailed down in the next couple days. I really think its between us and Alabama if we both want Rick Barnes, and I'd say we definitely do. Offer 2 mill and call it a search!

If he is indeed interested and we are then this should move quickly. Quicker the better to allow recruiting to start

With every coaching hire there are risk. No coach is a sure bet. Given the state of the program, I think this is probably the closest thing to a home run we can expect. I think Barnes will bring instant credibility with recruits. It's not a quick fix by any means but I don't think there is a quick fix regardless of the coach.

Look at who is look at going to Texas because of Barnes and look at who people like Mike White and others are looking to get. It's not even close guys. Let the guy come in and calm the storm and bring in some 5 star prospects. He did get KD to come to Texas (from Maryland)...just think about that

I'm too lazy to look but are there any Texas recruits that were spring signers that he could possibly woo our way?

I'm very curious about the specific demographics of some of you people. I wonder if the people thinking we are too good for Rick Barnes just started watching UT basketball during the Pearl years.
I'd prefer it if you all had an immediate vasectomy.

I wonder if they've watched the last four years.
