Would a Rick Barnes hire make you happy?

Barnes has shown he is a good coach early on at Providence, Clemson and Texas, but I don't think he is the long term solution. He is 60. Underwood would be a good long term coach.

I mean Underwood is as much of a crapshoot as any other midmajor coach. You can't call those long term solutions when there is so much unknown

So if he stays 10 years and wins, that's too short for you? How long term do you want your coach? Anything over 5 years these days IS long term.

Utter disgrace

The embattled (now former) Texas basketball coach will enter a seventh straight offseason without a Sweet Sixteen appearance. The 2015 product he placed on the floor didn’t come anywhere close to reaching preseason projections. Barnes has a 10-33 mark against ranked teams (.232) since 2012. Barnes is 1-7 against Kansas over the last four seasons.

Who do you want?

This is the safe move IMO. Proven recruiter. Proven winner. Maybe he isn't the greatest tournament coach, but will bring stability and hopefully restock the cupboards for the next guy 4-5 years down the road. We need to get back to winning 20+ games a year and making it to the tournament in a regular basis. Then the job becomes more appealing. We could do much much worse.

Can't get excited about an unemployed, underachieving coach. He seems to have lost any passion he had. Just don't think this is the right guy.

Barnes is a family oriented guy and will probably retire in 5 years.
He'd be handing a stable program over to a guy who could step in and take it to the next level.

Well aren't we lucky the SEC is garbage and usually has two or three ranked teams. We'll be fine :)
