Buyout to Dooley. I always saw Dooley referred as Doofus but I guess he put his own spin on it.
From FoxsSports..I think it will be Barnes and it will be announced within a week
Could Rick Barnes trade his burnt orange to the brighter Tennessee shade of the color? Some college basketball experts think that may be a possibility. In discussing his recent dismissal from Texas, Barnes hinted that he may have a new job pretty soon.
Will I coach again? Yeah," Barnes said over the weekend, via Scout.com's Chip Brown. "Probably quicker than you think.
After hearing what Barnes had to say, various writers and analysts immediately mentioned Tennessee as a possible landing spot for the 60-year-old.
Hiring Barnes would certainly make a splash for Tennessee. What do you think, Vols fans?
Thanks to you as well.
this is like the 20th time this has been posted. Being available seems to be the only link so far. Not saying it won't happen, but it would be viewed as a let down if I was a basketball fan.
You're assuming that Hurley would be the pick. There are several coach K diciples out there. If it were him, he'd be gone for sure.
Let me say this:
You guys were right about KD. I remembered it a little differently, but KD was a huge get for Barnes. He didn't do much with him, but he was a once in a lifetime get.
I personally think Barnes would be an excellent hire for Tennessee. I think he would bring the stability and experience that the program needs right now. That being said, I'm not sure I would expect the same level of recruiting from Barnes at Texas than I would from Barnes at Texas. No offense to Tennessee, but UT decided they wanted to be good at basketball when they hired Barnes, and flexed their financial muscle. It will be interesting to find out though, maybe he can keep it up.
I am making the assumption that a successful Hurley is the pick. Right now the only good pick out there is Brey. I'm not making some wild assumption. There's a reason no one here is calling for Capel, Wojo, Collins, Amaker or Snyder to come to Knoxville. And I think K stays around too long for the pick to be Brey.
Gotta think Barnes has some players he's been recruiting that he can bring with him. Kinda like the Tyndall situation but with better players.
IDK about this hire. He would recruit well but would he thrive in a new place?? Here are some HC numbers

Lol, it's all speculation brother. None of it is proven.
Edit: I see your edit, yes he's unproven but the topic was which Coach K diciple might be coach K'sK's replacement in a few years. By then he will either be proven or not. Who knows?
Barnes can recruit at Texas, getting mostly kids from Texas, to the flagship program in Texas. How does that translate to recruiting at UT? Do you think it translates? Rick Barnes was not considered a top notch recruiter when he went to Texas, but it didn't matter to Texas, because the name on the jersey takes care of recruiting.
