Kevin Durant wasn't the Kevin Durant we all know when Rick Barnes recruiting him. He was a kid that bounced around to 3 different high schools and grew 5 inches after he committed to Texas. Great player, but he wasn't a huge recruiting get for Texas when Barnes signed him up, and Barnes had no idea he was going to go from a 6-6 wing to a 6-11 freak.

Kd was a beast in highschool.

Um not exactly right. Durant bounced around the best basketball centric private high schools in the country because he was so good.

Uh he was the number two player in his class when Barnes signed him.

LOL!!

He was a 5 star consensus top 3 player in the country.

You might be living a little in the Rick Barnes past. His current roster has only 1 kid that didn't play high school basketball in Texas, and that kid is from New Orleans.

Of course he should take advantage of his state's talent. There is a lot of it. But if he walked into a gym in Nashville, don't you think high school coaches would recognize him?

Durant, Avery Bradley, DJ Augustin, PJ Tucker, Corey Joseph, and Tristan Thompson all play in the NBA and are all from out of state. Bradley is from Washington state. Tucker is from NC. Joseph and Thompson are from Canada! They aren't even close to Texas.

maybe 15 years ago --- like I said why start over in a few years ? Wisconsin can easily lure a big name when Ryan retires --- of course UT cant.

We will anyway if we get most of those names, they will get bigger jobs if they're successful.

Although he may not be an up and comer he is a big name coach with a clean record. I would give him a chance.

With the FB and BB teams winning - there will be money to pay him to stay and the BO to Goofus will be paid off also.

I don't think money will be able to keep Hurley away from where I'm thinking he goes in five years (if successful at UT)

I also must admit I have no idea what BO to Goofus means.

So you're saying Barnes is good at spotting under the radar talent? Sounds like something we could use around here.
