Rick Barnes has emerged as a serious candidate the for UCLA job, reportedly has interviewed

The only issue he had that would give anyone pause or concern has already been dealt with aka the show cause.
Do you think the fact he has that show cause on his record draws increased NCAA scrutiny? Like I said, maybe it's not his fault, but trouble follows him. Why bring that to UT? It's not about liking or not liking Bruce, it's logic. Do you want a heavier NCAA presence on campus? It goes against common sense to bring back Bruce.

Mussleman wasn't their first choice, and I'm not all that impressed by him TBH.

I think McMahon is a very good coach (I attend Austin Peay so I pay attention to the OVC). He's from TN and was a GA here (not that it's important, but).
I agree McMahon does a good job there, and same with your take on Musselman. Just think given the run we're coming off of we can reasonably set the sights higher.

Yeah, but he chose to be stupid at the cost of the school. I feel what he did was far more harmful to the university than if Barnes just chooses to take another job.

But like I said, to each their own. I doubt you'll change my mind, and I most likely won't change yours.

I see both sides of this one. His stupidity probably came from his selfishness.

10 years from now, the NCAA won't exist.

Not at all considering the “crime”

Especially considering Frank Haith’s punishment, UNC’s fake classes issues, and Pitino sex club issues.

Bruce had a bbq and got the book thrown at him. Everyone could see there was zero consistency with the crime he committed and the punishment he was served among those other issues that actually benefitted each program on the court.

It’s also a relationship driven business and Fulmer was no fan of Mike Hamilton. Any other AD that was competent would have stood by Pearl and they would also know the show cause was a sham. Pearl also stayed in Knoxville until getting Auburn gig. He still knows all the power brokers, including Phil.

The “100% would never happen crowd” is crazy.

Didn't intend to come across as criticizing, just hoping we can land someone with more of a track record. I'd definitely make runs at Marshall/Prohm before those three, but wouldn't be upset with McMahon/Forbes.
I would put Leonard Hamilton and Bruce Pearl up there with Marshall and Prohm as potential candidates

Also, we hire Bruce and the NCAA “heavier presence” keeps him in check... not sure that’s a bad thing outside of someone who cares about optics only. To repeat, anyone who would have a problem with a “heavier NCAA presence” on campus if we brought back Bruce would only have an issue because of optics.

Recruits don’t care about that stuff and it isn’t like other coaches could use it against him either after seeing the coaching job he’s done at Auburn.

Also from a financial perspective Bruce would be one of the bigger names that would work with us on contract price. Not saying he would be cheap like he is now but if we are spending 2-3 million on a coach that’s an up and comer vs Bruce, I know who I’m gonna try to work with.

All good man.
Marshall would be a great hire, I just don't see that happening if the history is true(and if Im remembering correctly).

Prohm is about on par with McMahon IMO.

Bruce would be amazing no doubt, but I just don't see it as a possibility. Hamilton is 70 years old.
I think Phil should interview Kentucky associate head coach Kenny Payne also along with Ole Miss head coach Kermit Davis.

Kenny Payne

All of the Bruce jock sniffers:

1. Chances UT would offer: <1%

2. Even if it did, chances that Bruce would accept: <1%

You would be more successful putting on armor and jousting windmills...

Now let’s see your data that backs those percentages up....
