Rick Barnes has emerged as a serious candidate the for UCLA job, reportedly has interviewed

I could be wrong, but I don't think LA is Barnes' kind of town.
But money talks and who knows how much they'd ultimately be willing to throw at him.
If he leaves Knoxville, I hope Phil will have enough money in the coffers to go after the Texas Tech coach.

I can't imagine you've been to Austin then. It's extremely liberal and was named the 2nd best city for a liberal to live in recently, finishing only behind Seattle. It's easily the most liberal area of Texas and compares favorably to Chicago, New York and Los Angeles on that scale. It's a huge city, about 5 times the size of Knoxville as well. The cost of living there is much closer to LA than Knoxville. It's considered a major outlier in Texas compared to the rest of the state.

And most importantly, he wouldn’t be the most famous person in the city.

One thing Kiffin said that blew him away was when he took the football job at UT, he automatically became the most famous and important person in the state.

Why do people always look for something negative going on behind the scenes? Barnes has a limited time left as a head coach. He's done all he can do here. He's likely losing 4 of his 5 starters and what returns doesn't comfort. Maybe the guy is getting while the getting is good? Maybe he's wanting a national title and things would be far easier at UCLA than in Knoxville? Maybe this is his last chance and he'd get a nice pay raise to boot? Lot's of things go through a mans mind as he nears the end of his career. Sometimes it just feels like the right thing to do. Doesn't mean there's some ominous crap going on behind the scenes at UT. Geez.
Sorry but I don't think your reasons pass the smell test. No offense, just disagree.

Basilo is reporting that he agrees with the LA times report. Is very unhappy with Fulmer and his approach towards basketball. Too football centric.

Basilio saying he's hearing from people that Barnes is unhappy with Fulmer's basketball support.

Fulmer wasn’t wrong when he said this but he said as the football program goes, so does the entire Athletic Department.

Good coach who might finally be ready for a bigger pond. But, believe it or not, his salary is greater than Barnes.
Yep, Koch Brothers are the money men at Wichita State. He's been rumored with other good gigs and he has stayed at Wichita State.

You said winning doesn’t fix culture issues. You must have not watched UT’s program in past 4 years
Changing the culture (cutting the dead weight, the guys who didn't want do buy in, and replacing them with hard workers who wanted to be coached hard) led to winning, not the other way around. It's why the team has gotten better every year he's been here, and so have the season's record and results.

The idea you don't realize that is concerning.

I mean how different is Texas and Tennessee with sports culture? Texas and Tennessee have always been football first schools. I don't buy that in the least bit that he's unhappy with Fulmers care of football over basketball unless he wanted UT to open its pockets to pay assistants more

Basilio is just a sh*t-stirrer. Proved that more than a few times during the OC search with his quotes from "people."
