Barnes has been great and has led us to our best seasons ever, but I’m kinda optimistic that DW will make a good hire once he’s decided to hang it up. He’s brought stability to a place with deep pockets and UT is a place that deeply cares about basketball. We should be talent laden (if we make a good hire and don’t have a ton of transfers) so we should be decently attractive. The key will be finding the right guy that can translate their abilities from a MM or lower level HM school to SEC hoops. We probably will, frankly. No one wants to be the guy who follows the guy.

Barnes isn’t “the guy”. That funny stuff right there. I’m betting there would be several good candidates interested in the job with the base Barnes has built. Especially if we can make the transition smoothly with RB retiring and not having to fire him when he’s in his 70s.
