We have been 22 times since Devoe…who went 6 times…4 under Green…6 under Bruce…1 under Cuonzo and 5 under Barnes…so not sure where you get 17 or 1/3 ratio…even 5/17 is not 1/3…I have a UT degree, I can’t be off with my math that much…lol

That was the year before that…his last season they were really good, up to number 4 and cruising along then were awful down stretch and lost to Charlotte in the 8/9 game…say what you will but Harris, Slay, Yarbrough, Haislip, Hathaway, Victor, Black etc were as good and deep as any Tennessee era…not sure why people forget that…that really was the beginning of the Tennessee does not get it done in March narrative

I’m with you on all that. It was so fun under Green, just frustrating at times with the lack of discipline.

The tournament expanded to 64 in 1985. Since then we’ve been 17 times

Definitely some rough around the edges guys…look I don’t dislike Barnes guys I just have seen this a lot with the guy and even while at Texas. Obviously we could do far worse but we really are a top 10-20 program nationally and have been for long enough. Programs that good get further than a few sweet 16’s. You either make a huge deep run, or make a run when it’s not expected…we never seem to do either.

I wouldn’t trade Barnes for Frank Martin who took SC on one run to the FF. No way.

Ok 5/17 since it got easy…Devoe went 5 straight years before that timeframe, hope you understand how good that was and how hard that was to do…Mears would have made it in the dance most years. I just do not want you to discount our basketball history. We have a bad tournament history and Barnes is definitely a part of that. Between Mears, Devoe, Green, Bruce, and Barnes…we have had very capable teams and a good basketball program. This is not a fluke. Any coach worth his weight has done well in Knoxville.

Y’all always know what to expect with a rick Barnes team. Heck of a second half comeback effort. But it is a staple of Barnes teams to have games like this. Won’t be the last this year.

Exactly…rinse and repeat…14-4, 13-5 in Sec…good but not good enough to be conference champ…will either have a bad shooting day, rough officiating, or take a half off and get bounced before a deep tournament run…same exact story…good but not good enough…flame away if you need to but I want conference titles and deep tournament runs and with Barnes and his so called success and paycheck...that should be demanded and expected

The #1, #2, #3 and #5 teams in the country all lost away from home in the last ~24 hours. But, sure, it's only the #5 team that is "good but not good enough."

That’s great. Devoe and Mears ain’t coming back though. If you want to fire barnes that’s great, who do you replace him with?
