Barnes has made a Final Four.
Jefferson, Carr, Dillione, and Estrella are all players that we would have hung our dreams on a few years ago. I think Dillione and Estrella will contribute meaningfully by January. I think Jefferson might too. A core of Aidoo, ZZ, Phillips and Santi is something we would also be excited about. Somehow that combination isn't enough? We seem to forget Awaka, but he sure showed promise and fire. I don't understand Edwards and his hesitancy, but there is obviously something there. We have a great basis for a top 15 team. It'll take time to find a rhythm, but we'll play good defense, and we'll have more pure shooting. We'll break and drive a lot more. If Phillips returns and is healthy, I believe he can be an entirely different player than this year. With this lineup, he'll also have more room to move. I'd love to land Perry. He is a big time scorer and would change the ceiling. I also think Ludlum is a work horse who can get buckets, rebound and make space. I'm just not going to write off the team even if we only sign Gainey, or sign no one. I like the athleticism and scoring hunger of this team. I think we'll be more fun to watch than any team here in a long time. We'll continue to torture teams with our defense, but will have guns to do something on the other end too. I know Muss's high volatility formula feels exciting, but I still prefer our way.
Even if it results in cultural and lockeroom problems? I think taking completely wild risks makes more sense if/when you’re struggling as a program, we aren’t…I get what you're saying, but the ceiling is all that really matters. The staff should be doing everything possible to elevate the program year in and year out. It just feels like there's not a whole lot of urgency to make improvements. It seems to me like Barnes is complacent as long as he gets guys that fit his mold/culture. He probably loves Tyreke Key and what he stands for, but he sucks and didn't help the team. Taking gambles are necessary to get better results at times. If that means throwing a huge bag at a big-time scorer that might be a headache, you take that risk all day.
I'm going to say something that others will disagree with, and some will probably call stupid. I think there's more of an urgency to win a championship from the fanbase than there is from the coaching staff. The coaching staff is more dead set on doing things a certain way. We, the fanbase, just want results. I think Rick Barnes is a great coach. But I also think he's set in his ways. There are certain types of players he will never pursue.I get what you're saying, but the ceiling is all that really matters. I agree with much of this. College basketball is a ceiling sport (more so than college football for various reason).I get what you're saying, but the ceiling is all that really matters. Lmao ok…how quickly we forget Cuonzo, Buzz or even Bruce ball apparently. Guessing you’re also ready to run off Tony V? Seat getting warm for Heupel too?I'm taking that risk. Some of us would actually like something to look forward to and maybe get to see the team reach the final weekend for the first time in program history. There's nothing exciting about winning 20+ games and bowing out in the first or second weekend yet again.

No one forgets, I know I sure as hell don’t. However, we’ve seen pretty much the same result his entire tenure. Feel like it’s time to look outside the box for Barnes.Lmao ok…how quickly we forget Cuonzo, Buzz or even Bruce ball apparently. Guessing you’re also ready to run off Tony V? So that’s a yes, you’re ready to move on from Tony V if this year doesn’t produce something big? Heupel gets what, 2 more years to make a championship game before you pull his plug?No one forgets, I know I sure as hell don’t. However, we’ve seen pretty much the same result his entire tenure. He said “to look outside the box”
- Hype killed it in the portal, he looked for better players
- Vitelli killed it in the portal, he looked for better players
- Barnes over here playing with himself
Never once did he say he wanted to pull the plug. Your responses are absolutely ****ing terrible. They only work in your favor.
There’s more than just the portal to do things, Vitello killed it in the portal and yet they look like a little league team, that’s what you’re wanting for the basket Vols? That makes a ton of sense lmao
First SEC Tournament win in 4 decades, a regular season SEC conference championship, and 5 NCAA tournament appearances with 2 sweet sixteens....
I'll take that for the next 10 years if that's the "same results his entire tenure" you're referring to.
