Rick Barnes discussion [merged]

Barnes is such a great coach in March he’s won exactly one conference tournament championship and exceeded seeding in 24 NCAA tourney appearances ONCE.
You really broke a 12 year hiatus from posting just to post the same thing in two different threads?

Unless you’re 100% sure that you have another good coach lined up, it would be foolish to push Barnes out.

Let him make his own decision when he will retire which I think will possibly be after the 2022-2023 season.

Absolutely not, you let him finish his career here if he will (and hopefully he does). He’s recruiting extremely well, he has a great staff, he’s well liked and does things the right way, and he hasn’t suddenly forgotten how to coach.
Every team is different. Sometimes it’s harder to get a certain group to play well together and to push the right buttons with everyone. A similar example IMO would be KY this year. It’s possible they can even get things turned around this week with a week of practice..

It's sad how quickly fans turn on coaches and players when they don't get what they want but at the same time demand loyalty from them
Loyalty? You do realize Barnes was gone to UCLA if Tenn or Randy Boyd hadn’t come up with a $5M a year salary for him?

It's been a very disappointing season... but these kind of threads are dumb. We would not get a better coach than Barnes.

Had a better coach before Barnes was hired albeit a few years before....

So it's not like Barnes is great by any stretch of the imagination.

Barnes once turned down Kentucky to stay at Texas and they rewarded him by firing him. Now that everything has turned into “what have you done for me lately” why would anyone stay loyal to one job?
