Did anyone else catch the "hot mic" on CRB at the beginning of the game last night? Turns out he was talking about the infamous "TV" Teddy Valentine and a time when TV threw Barnes out of an NCAA Tournament game. I heard it on the broadcast but didn't know what the comments were about. Pretty darn funny.

Speaking of TV, I thought he was no longer doing SEC games?

I was hoping the announcers would be muted the entire game and we could listen to CRB the whole time...unfortunately they got it resolved after a couple of minutes. CRB would have been infinitely more interesting to hear than the guys the networks hire to babble on and on about everything other than the game being played.

Definitely. Unfortunately we'd probably be discussing CRB's resignation presser today had it stayed on the whole game. Our world has become so PC nowadays that even Barnes wouldn't survive it. 🙂

BTW, I mentioned to someone last night watching the 1st half iirc. There was a printout with photos on the press table right beside where CRB sits. On it were officials. I could read Doug Shows as the top one and couldnt tell the ones below. Is that to help coach call out the right name etc?

It looked like the same format of the players that the camera people use that have player name, #, and mugshot. Sat right beside the ground level cam opposite corner of UT bench for UGA game. Talked w engineering student who vols running cams for BBall. She used it as a reference for when producer asked for a shot of a certain player or coach. Funny too, she said she didn't even follow bball. Also was pumped that her work on a Pons dunk made ESPN one night.

Apparently produced by UTAD as a ref reference. Anybody else see that?

That was a bad setup for CRB. Glad he didn't say something in a private conversation that would've reflected badly and needed to stay in a private conversation. Man, I'd hate to learn I had a hot mic. Probably best not to wear that stupid thing at all. Why risk your career based on someone else's ability to mute the darn thing when it's not supposed to be hot.

I think we all probably agree that Teddy Valentine is the worst college basketball official still in the game. I think it’s horrible the way the NCAA has allowed him to continue when the things he does are obviously to gain attention for him....he’s been doing it for years and for some reason they’ve allowed him to do it... He’s had multiple complaints filed against him over the years and the NCAA has done nothing to correct it. Now if you guys are like me when I see that he’s doing the game I just roll my eyes and shake my head and think it’s gonna be a long night especially if you’re at the game and have to witness it in person .....watching him jump around and interrupt the flow of the game constantly. And every game without fail he will have some major incident where the officials will have to have a conference so that the cameras will be right on him for a long time.

I am sure Barnes knows most if not all of the officials by now. But I think I remember a story about a coach who was new to that league, called an official by the wrong name, and got a technical. Kind of funny but sad at the same time.

It’s understandable if the coach called him Teddy Valentine.

Those broadcasters were almost to the point of being unbearable.

Pat Adams is following right in TVs footsteps.

On the road last night & listened on radio. Had to gasp when Kesling mentioned before tipoff: " Excellent officials tonight...Doug Shows, Ted Valentine & (?)"

Could you imagine if that had been Frank Martin from South Carolina? 😂

It was very hard to hear exactly what Coach Barnes was saying but it sounded to us that when the game started, he was telling an assistant how much he liked a couple of the Vandy players. We were so glad that he is such a class act and didn't say anything embarrassing.

If it would have been on Butch Jones a few years ago he would have definitely embarrassed us even more than he already did. Can you imagine the dumb s*** he would have said?

The story that CRB told was gold lol. Good Ol Teddy V. I wonder if he goes and does curls for the girls during half time to get a nice pump going with his smedium zebra stripe shirt?

On the SEC network last week Pat Bradley was discussing how CRB had to call a time and get in the faces of his players and maybe cuss them real good to get their attention. But I was so proud of Jimmy Dykes (who understands WHY CRB would never do that) interrupted and corrected him by saying "Nope not Rick Barnes you'll NEVER hear him cussing especially at his players"!!! I don't know about you guys but class, dignity, and integrity still mean something to me. Thanks Rick!!!!
