Yep. Just what we mothereffin' need. A guy who won a championship with someone else's players, then went 45-53 over the next six years, and got fired.

Before we did that, I'd rather we rehire the guy who won a championship with his own players, then went 85-41 over the next 10 years before getting fired.

Anybody who wants to hire Jon Gruden for ANY head coaching job clearly failed to pay attention to anything that happened involving any of his teams after January of 2000. I'll never understand the obsession some people seem to have for this guy.

That is the best response I've ever heard to the Gruden supporters.....and 100% accurate :) You need to save this should we ever need it again.

A. He owns land in the Knoxville area.

B. His wife was a UT cheerleader.

C. His tremedous efforts over the last 9 seasons with the Tampa Bay Bucs.

So what? Saban has owned a Lake House on Lanier near Gainesville Ga for several years.... Close enough to Athens that he would be a candidate for the UGA job should it become open? I don't think so.

I own land in Oxford, but I'm not moving there

B. His wife was a UT cheerleader.

My wife was a cheerleader at Ole MS, We are not moving there.

C. His tremedous efforts over the last 9 seasons with the Tampa Bay Bucs.

I hate Ole MS, so he might feel the same way about TN or college football

While those are all compelling reasons, well, no they really aren't at all, did you hear his response when asked about coaching college football? He laughed and said he couldn't see himself sitting in an 18 yr old kids house and telling him how great he is. Aside from how funny that is, and how it fits him so well, how well do you think he would have done in cdds position. Enough with gruden....

This argument is dumb. There is no legitmate reason to be that excited about hiring John Gruden. As was stated earlier, he did good with someone elses players and then had a losing record. Period.

Attention Newcomers.

The talk about Gruden, extolling his virtues....insisting that he is still the coach at Tampa, etc etc.....Is a big joke on here. Just letting you in on it for future reference.

Jon Gruden is a good coach. But HE DOESN'T LIKE RECRUITING. He doesn't want to do it. End of Story. This ain't texas or florida where you don't need much of an effort.

Haha you guys really crack me up.

Relax! Dooley's not going anywhere. Because...

1. He has A LOT more character than X

2. He is loyal unlike X

3. And...While his dad was the HC at Georgia the Auburn job came open (Vince Dooley was an Auburn grad I believe) and didn't take that job because he felt that he had a commitment to UGA. Like father like son?

Anyways, lets all just chill. The staff is almost finalized and we have a lot to be excited about this year and next.

Go Vols!

Dooley will be employed at the University of Tennessee as Head Coach of the football team for 3 weeks when he wakes up tomorrow.

Lets slow down the talk about his successor.

Little known fact about J-Gru: Owns property in the area and wife is a former UT cheerleader.

Just a matter of time before he's roamin' the sidelines on Rocky Top.

Wait...WHAT?!?!?!?!?
OMG SIGN HIM UP.

If Dooley wins big at UT, Georgia will be after him in a year or two with some big money when they push Richt out the door. Mark it down.

Dooley could have played for his dad at UGA but chose to walk on elsewhere. I think the "dream of coaching at UGA" is a fan created myth. I haven't seen anything from him that makes me thinks he wants to follow in daddy's footsteps.

If Muschamp had taken the real UT job, you might have something to worry about in a year or two.

Id think that GA would go after muschamp, since he is from rome GA, before theyd go after DD.

Dooley is a southern man at a southern school. Not a cali boy at a southern school.

A little raise oughtta keep him here for a long time.

Doesnt CDD have a stipulation in his contract saying he cant interview with GA? One would think that MH snuck that in there

Oh stop the madness. Can't, we put all this to rest? If he goes to GA, he goes! WE ARE TENNESSEE!!!!!

If I'm not mistaken the AD at UGA is a black fellow. I do believe after CMR's departure next year, and he's as good as gone unless he can get by Meyer which is unlikely with a new QB, we'll have the 1st big name black head football coach in the SEC for one of the higher profile programs. Then I believe UGA will become a force to be reckoned with. I don't see Dooley going to UGA in the foreseeable future.
