Richt NCAA's most underrated? (Scout.com)

I don't see Richt as being underrated at all. He gets plenty of praise thrown his way. Most of it is deserved, he seems to be a really good man that represents their university well. Having said that, he has made some boneheaded decisions during some games but his teams always seem to come into the game well prepared. I also think he is a coach that really needs great assistants to excel, and I'm not sure he's getting that from his DC. The jury is still out on how Bobo will do as the OC.

I'm not sure how much name recognition he has outside the SEC.

I realize georgia was down before he got there, but is what he has done at georgia really that impressive? It's georgia, shouldn't they be competing for SEC championships? It's not as though the guy has won a national championship (or even played for one).

Before Richt won the sec in '02 (his first of two with uga), uga hadnt won the sec since '82 (someone correct me if Im wrong).

So even if they should have been competing for sec championships, they werent. Kinda like the Vols.

He's made some really idiotic decisions, but he's won two out of the last five SEC championships. I'd be delighted with that level of underachievement. If he maintains that sort of success, he'll play in the NT game sooner or later.

If Richt could just beat Florida a little more often . . . Does that sound familiar?

Bobby Johnson is easily the most underrated coach in the SEC, as he is bringing a godawful program out of the basement and on its way to respectability

The insanity continues . . .

Bobby Johnson's win total over the past 5 years - 15
Woody Widenhofer's win total in the previous 5 yrs - 15
. . . and the win total from the 5 yrs before that - 18

3 wins per year is basically respectable.

Considering they play 4 cupcake nonconference games a year, that's pretty pathetic.

Nobody is contending that Vanderbilt is the king of the SEC. I don't expect to see Bobby Johnson win 10 games a year but he has made the most out of what he has. I'm a UT fan so I could care less about Vandy but I think he has done a good coaching job. I would like to see him coach UT's talent and see Fulmer coach Vandy's talent and look at the results. Fulmer is a better recruiter and that counts for more than a lot but on pure x's and o's I wonder who really knows their stuff. Bobby Johnson can say he beat Georgia and UT unlike the last 3 coaches.

The last 3 coaches didn't have the good fortune of a first round draft pick QB falling into thei laps.

He was such a blue chip coming out of highschool that Illinois wouldn't take him. Bobby Johnson and his staff still had to coach him into a first round pick.

I'm not saying he is the best coach in the SEC, I'm saying based on the tools he has to work with he could be considered underrated.
