Richt NCAA's most underrated? (Scout.com)

Richt lacks the golden-boy image of Florida’s Urban Meyer.

This guy has got to be kidding. Around here he is viewed as some kind of genius. Obviously he's done a good job, but he's also had some pretty major screw ups as well.

He makes some really bone-headed decisions. It's hard to argue with his results, though. His only seasons that really weren't so hot were his first year and last year.

Richt squandered a tremendous opportunity in 04. IMO he had national championship talent that year.

I agree. I'm still scratching my head about the big dip the Dawgs took last year in the middle of the season, but Richt sure got it turned around after losing to UK.

A few more of those losses and a couple more arrests will push GA fans over the edge.

That was a solid offense and a punishing defense.

I think that Richt gets plenty of credit considering what he has done with the program. They are an honest contender, but after 04 I really don't see him getting them over the hump.

same here. what he's done against us aside, he still gets owned regularly by FL, and even in the SEC title years, there was always that "game" they just couldn't put it all together.

04 was definitely their best shot.....

One positive for Richt is that this year he is finally turning loose the playcalling function to his Offensive Coordinator. I think that is going to make him a more effective gameday coach.

I realize georgia was down before he got there, but is what he has done at georgia really that impressive? It's georgia, shouldn't they be competing for SEC championships? It's not as though the guy has won a national championship (or even played for one).

Apparently this writer never visited any UT boards very often from 2002-2006.

If Richt not that good, what does that say about Fulmer? I think Fulmer is 2-4 vs Richt.

Isnt that the year ESPN went to GA's fall practice and gave them the kiss of death by picking them to win the NC?

By picking Richt as most underated has somehow made him overrated to me.

I think Bobby Johnson has done a good job to run that 12th tier SEC team at Vandy but what do I know.

Not enough. :) He's the worst (so far) of the last 3 Vandy coaches.

I don't see Richt as being underrated at all. He gets plenty of praise thrown his way. Most of it is deserved, he seems to be a really good man that represents their university well. Having said that, he has made some boneheaded decisions during some games but his teams always seem to come into the game well prepared. I also think he is a coach that really needs great assistants to excel, and I'm not sure he's getting that from his DC. The jury is still out on how Bobo will do as the OC.
