Richt = Cry Baby

A large portion of the stadium did that chant. That doesn't fall all on the students.

as i said, student section and large number. I was just above the student section for that game and i heard it from there first and it grew. Shameful either way though.

I think GA just thinks they should be handed it....Their Gimmicks will run out eventually...Nothing to earn it but they expected to be into the NC Game....Foolish Thought

On the other side of the Ball if it had been TN in GAs Shoes what would we be saying Right Now....

Missouri and the Big 12 is experiencing what The SEC has been through for years....2001 great example FL and LSU go to the BCS....So we can see how they feel...

different team, but saying "F:censored: you bama" was even less classy two years ago IMO. i have only been embarassed to be a UT fan once in my life. Sitting in the stand with two little kids to the right of me and one sitting in front of me while our student section and large number of other fans chanted that made me more than embarassed actually.

Edit: and this comes from someone who would only root for Alabama over Notre Dame

That's true. I've never done that either, but I can't speak for the entire student section.

On a sidenote, as the lineups were being announced for the ULL - UT basketball game, as orange nation pulled their newspapers out and said "sucks" a small group of students yelled "penis".

It was funny, but classless.

somehow barking doesn't seem so bad as having your student section, and the drunken K-town convention in the upper deck, screaming "sucks" after the calling of each opponent's starters' names during the introduction.

.
i remember being a student in the student section at many games (94-97) at Neyland. Students are stupid. i know i was. let's see........game day usually called for getting up around 10 to see game day, having my first drink and cointinuing that process (of drinking) either at my apt, on the strip or general tail gate up until kick off.

i, and about 10,000 of my class mates had the same ritual. drunk college students do stupid things. and i can assure you, the opposing fans that came up were every bit as rauccus and obscene as we were.

now that i'm all grow'd up, i don't know that i'd be inclined to repeat that behavior, and also now sort of turn a deaf ear to it. it is inmature. and for inmature people, which they are, (we were too), it is what it is.

GA, FL, MSU, Bama, Ole Miss fans etc...whether on the road or visiting were all equally ridiculous. i've seen liquor bottles tossed at players in Oxford, i've seen car flags set on fire in Starkville, i've seen red and black clad southern belles spew obsenities that'd make a sailor proud, i've seen senior citezens donning orange and blue make you wonder what assylum they escaped from and i've seen, and been, orange and white clad fans back up the stereotype of red neck, with pride i might add. I've seen Bama fans on the strip after a TN game with elephant trunks hanging out of their pants walking around with signs saying "elephant trunks for sale". i've seen some of the most violent fist fights ever after TN/BAma and TN/FL games.

the truth is, when you're in college, for a good many of college students, you act like a moron, more or less because it's the last time of your life you're entitled to do so.

so in the end, i'm glad i grew up, but i'm equally glad for the 4 years i got to be an idiot. it was fun at the time.

wake up guys! there is a big world out there that you are missing. if you spent half as much time paying attention to your families as you spend here, your kids would love you. just a thought.

Let's not get personal I take your comments about our families of whitch you no nothing about as a personal insult it has no credibility here.

jake i understand your comments, and I've seen crap from fans of many SEC and ACC schools as well. I still find them disrespectful. Whether you are nine years old, nineteen years old or 89 years old you have to respectful of those around you.

i don't disagree. there is a line that shouldn't be crossed. like i said, as i've gotten older, i'm less inclined to repeat or participate in such behavior and actually find myself not condoning it. but i do understand it.

it's been that way for a long, long time, and i guess i'm a little shocked at the "outrage" of such behavior.

most of us have participated it similar behavior over the years, or at the very least, have been exposed to it at similar venues over the years.

presenting it as if it were new information for the new millinium or something is just a little over done imo.

it's like going to a nascar race and being surprised at the behavior when you get there. not whether or not it's right or wrong......

on that note jakez, i've been going to Neyland for a long, long time. Since i was a little kid. I've also attended several Bristol races (hard to believe i used to love NASCAR), and went to just about every ETSU home game in the early nineties. Went to an occasional game in TBA as a youngster, but the games were always so empty and quiet I'm not counting them in this discussion.

If the cursing, perversion, violence and drunkeness went on at all those events like it does at them today, as a little kid I was totally oblivious to it. Perhaps I am overanalyzing it all too much and it's not as a big a problem as most like to think. The question is, can someone older than me back up the fact that crowd behavior no worse today than it was 20 years ago?

i would have hated if the dawgs would have gotten into the title game too. but you can't tell me that you guys wouldn't have been trying to make a case to play for the national championship too if ut were in georgia's position. it's only natural

i would say it's worse today, i wouldn't even argue it. but it has been going on, just not in the same quantity. hard for me to believe, but almost 20 years ago, i was at a TN/Memphis game in the liberty bowl with my entire family......grandparents, aunt, uncle, mom, dad, brothers......and two guys behind me (both in their late 30's/early 40's, and TN fans, were mixing drinks and making ridiculous, and obsene comments about the coach. my grandmother turned around and told 'em to shut up, and they replied with a "why don't you turn around and mind your own business you old b....h".

they crossed the line.

i've been to a lot of football games in my life, but that was the closest i ever came to blows in the stands. before it was all said and done, apologies were being accepted, and there weren't any more problems.

that's the problem with going to events with large crowds. they will admit jack asses. and at the end of the day, always remember, there's no lifeguard at the gene pool, so the jackasses will always be rebuilding their numbers.

and just because someone else doesnt' have class, doesn't mean you don't have any or that you can't act with it.

I hope Hawaii somehow destroys UGA. That would be a good present for me. I usually pull for all the SEC teams but the UGA whiners are ticking me off. If they wanted it so bad, they should have thought of that when we bent them over Oct 6th

at the TN/GA game I was waiting at the vol walk with the wife and my two girls, 10 & 15, and the whole UGA band came by in their bus at the bottom of the hill right at neyland and flipped the crowd off. there was so many fingers in the windows...
I think that is when my older daughter, who is of course in high school here in Ga. decided UGA sucked...

I did not point out that the UT band might return the favor in athens....

Finally, one of thier own is calling for all the whining to stop.
The Junk Yard Blawg in the AJC (I wish that I knew how to post the link, but T-Town did not teach that when I was in school, and if they did, i was probably in the weight room)
The UGA whining is embarrassing to the whole SEC.

Classy post :shakehead:

I dont see why everyone is so upset with Richt. You would expect Fulmer to do the same thing. As for the fans whining. It was unrealistic to think that we would have got into the big game but I dont think we should have dropped that far in the polls. Bottom line is if we wanted to get in then we should have beat our conference foes. Fact of the matter is everyone controls their own destiny and if they dont take care of business then you have to be held responsible for the consequences.

As I listened to Richt on the phone with the ESPN folks yesterday, I did not get the sense that he had a deeply held conviction that the Dawgs deserved to be in the championship game. It sounded like he was going through the motions. Last year Lloyd Carr refused to politic for the championship game when given the chance on ESPN, then Urban came on and got on his knees (figuratively). I think you have to do it, and you're right that we would all expect Phil to do the same thing were the Vols in the Dawgs' shoes.
