Maybe, but I think they both get at least one more year. It’s a terrible roster. If Tony gets fired after one year, it would he ridiculous because they did not set him up for success. They basically hired him without making any upgrades in free agency to a putrid 40-man. I think Posey is way more in over his head than Tony, and Tony hitching his wagon to a team run by his buddy may ultimately be his downfall.

I do find it ironic however, that Sully’s avg SEC W/L record before and after (this year only sample) CCJ’s tenure at UF is 3 games better while at the same time the avg SEC W/L record of UT under Tony is 3 games better than our record this year, with CCJ on staff.Don't let facts get in the way of a good narrative.
Hell, I was told that Frank is working remotely, from Texas.Well, Frank isn’t the pitching coach for the Giants he’s more of a front office and development role. Anything is possible but I think Posey will give Tony more than one season to adjust. However, if Frank did get canned, that wouldn’t happen till late in the year and this decision for our next pitching coach will be made in the next few weeks.
Frank is close to retirement anyway, so I’m sure Elander wants to go younger.
Missouri is my thinking as well. TV is a homer for the state of Missouri and would get a boatload of money and whatever else to go home to Missouri. AND IF...he's available in a year or two...they would GLADLY had over the keys to TV at Missouri and he could build his next program like he did with Vols...IMO. I wouldn't like him being back in the SEC BUT... I'd much rather him be at Missouri than anywhere else. I, too, think the supposed "love affair" TV alleged to have for Ark was a manufactured deal. But we shall see. I really only care that the Vols can get it rocking again under ElanderI would think Missouri for a complete garbage dumpster rebuild job would catch Tony's eye. Missouri REALLY screwed up when they passed on Today before.
UM would not only need to really pay Tony and assistants but would absolutely commit to baseball like they have never really committed to ANY sport.
Since joining the SEC, Mizzou has been nothing but lackluster people, making lackluster decisions, for lackluster fanbase. Football is their only real success -early on at least, and that was due to joining the SEC East when Florida, Tennessee, and Georgia all tanked at the same time. It's no coincidence that Missouri, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt had their only real success at that time.
When you take an MLB, you’re almost certain to be somewhere else in 5 years. I think the guy that everyone sees as an outsider and an experiment would have even less time. I would put my house on it that Tony coaches another game in LNS by the end of the 2032 season.Absolutely, but when you take an MLB job, you do so knowing that if it doesn't work out, you can almost certainly land back in college baseball without much difficulty. He also had to be aware of the likely timeline surrounding DVH's eventual retirement.
I remember asking friends for advice about a job opportunity that felt risky but had tremendous upside. Their response was simple: you have very little to lose by taking the chance because you can always return to a position comparable to the one you already have. I've always thought that mindset was probably part of Tony's calculation as well.
First, I don’t think Tony left because of SF’s roster or because of his relationship with Posey. I think Tony enjoyed all the talk, name in the sports headlines, and was planning to shut it down and stay. Someone slipped a tweet in that he was leaving, Tony was mad about where he thought the tweet info came from, so he jumped. He basically said this during MLB preseason interview. I think Posey is a good baseball man. He will not have much of a problem letting Tony go. I think they will mutually agree it’s not for Tony. I imagine a 1 season test that will fail. It’s a terrible roster. If Tony gets fired after one year, it would he ridiculous because they did not set him up for success. Investment in that SF roster required. We’ll see. MLB is on a longer timeline than college was or is. It can take a few drafts and FA periods to build a contender. In 2-3 years (maybe sooner) he'll be back in college at a major program. Doesn't have to be Arky, but it very well could be. It would not shock me if Arkansas, UF, Vandy (yuck), and A&M all came open at some point within the next few years, and there's always a chance of a surprise retirement that catches everyone off guard (e.g., what if Jay Johnson won another title at LSU and hung it up)?
Earley already seems like he's in pretty hot water in College Station. Corbin is a legendary coach, but he's also 64, has nothing left to prove, and hasn't made it out of Regionals since 2021. If a job TV wants opens back up, I think he'd just leave SF in a heartbeat unless they suddenly turned things around.
Actually visiting the mound when things are imploding would be a good start. Reynolds sucked royally at talking to his pitchers this year. Like dude lived in the dugout. What even makes a good pitching coach? There are some basic fundamentals pitchers learn in HS. Some drills with weighted balls. Some stretches everyone does. Nolan Ryan was great because he was Nolan Ryan, not because he had some pitching guru as his coach. Seems like an overrated position to me
Live in Arkansas and the sports talk here lately has been about the disconnect between their AD and Van Horn. Van Horn just hired Sexton as his agent (per Vitello’s recommendation) and some around here wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a split coming over the next year or two. Apparently the AD won’t commit as much NIL to baseball because he’s trying win at football to save his job.In 2-3 years (maybe sooner) he'll be back in college at a major program. The only way Tony V ever goes to Arkansas is if (a) Hunter Yurachek is no longer their AD, and (b) if DVH personally advocates for it. People can say all that want that Tony and Danny didn't get along, but Danny gave Tony a great deal of what he wanted from a baseball perspective. If you put Tony and Yurachek in the same working environment, somebody isn't coming out aliveLive in Arkansas and the sports talk here lately has been about the disconnect between their AD and Van Horn. Van Horn has a screaming case of hemorrhoids. Zero for life and continues to blame it on everyone except the man in the mirror.Live in Arkansas and the sports talk here lately has been about the disconnect between their AD and Van Horn.
