Full Player/Class Rankings (I'll do my best to update this going forward. Need to set up a script to automate that.)

For the past couple years, I've been increasingly frustrated with 247 (and now On3) including ESPN in their composite rankings. ESPN consistently underwhelms, and some analysis has shown their inclusion makes the 247-composite less accurate than the simple 247 rankings.

To fix this, I've pulled data from On3, 247, and Rivals to build my own composite, with a couple added features.

1. This is weighted.
  • On3: 40%
  • 247: 35%
  • Rivals: 25%

2. The effects of outliers are minimized. If On3/247 have a player in the top 50, but Rivals has him as a 5.5 player (or not yet evaluated), the new composite will weight the On3/247 grades more heavily.

Also, to create a class ranking, I've tried to account for quality and quantity like this: If you have an average team, how much to you improve the roster with this class?
  • If your average rating (for the 2-deep) is 85 and you sign six players with an average of 95, your new average is 86.2
  • If your average rating is 85 and you sign 20 players with an average of 90, your new average is 86.6.
That's the basic idea, then I scale everything to make it look closer to On3 class ranking numbers.

Here are the results for Tennessee's 2022 recruiting class.

And finally, here are the SEC class rankings. (on3_rk is the old class rank. _410_rk is mine.)

Let me know if you have any questions. I'll be working on position groups next.

This is awesome…I couldn’t agree more that ESPN sucks at recruiting coverage and should be excluded from the composites rankings…what really ticks me off is that they are the one the casual recruiting fan turns to for info

Keep on keeping on, who knows, yes you may start your own recruiting service some day, someone else has started at ground zero for some passionate idea and hit it big, good luck
Maybe one day. Wouldn't be able to do the evaluations, but I'd love to help formulate composites / class-rankings.

Yup, it's a travesty. Not sure why on3/237 keep them around.

1.) Very impressive, nicely done good sir!
2.) I'm mildly impressed that Vandy is able to pull in 25 recruits.
3.) Is Auburn truly that bad they can only attract 14 recruits and just be slightly better than Vandy?
4.) Why do I keep hearing all this love for SC?
