Very best wishes and prayers for Nick. What a great story of hard work and passion for his sport. From a great family.

FYI, Gator message boards are noting Eric Berry's late-night Tweet asking for prayers for Nick and for Tim Tebow. We are very appreciative of Eric as a player, for sure, and as a good man. Thanks.

Classy post. Classy Player.

There seems to be a lot of doctors on this board. Let's wait for the official word before all negative predictions!

Whats the rule on a medical redshirt?
Posted via VolNation Mobile

You cannot play in more than 3 games. If you have played in your 4th game then you cannot get a redshirt. My guess is Nick will not qualify if he is out for the year.

Sorry to hear about Nick's injury. I hate to see any player suffer serious injury. Looks like Bama may be in the same situation with one of it's starting LBs -- Dont'a Hightower. An Arky player took a cheap shot -- dove straight for his knee with his helmet. Waiting on MRI results, but Coach Saban said the initial prognosis was not good. Let's pray for these young men, as well as Tebow and others who suffered injuries yesterday.

that was a tough hit on DH. I would almost never call out a player for intentionally hurting someone without knowing their history but it was questionable

No, unfortunately 5 months is not nearly enough........6-9 months minimum for non-contact activites, 9-12 for contact.......;(

He will miss all of the spring, and hopefully be ready for some summer conditioning, and fall camp........if it's an ACL that is ;(

I disagree. As a father who has watched up close and personal my daughters rehab and recovery from ACL surgeries to both her knees, I know what it takes.
She hurt her first one playing high school BB, had her surgery in mid January and by mid to late June was back on the court playing multiple games per day at high school summer camps, and was pretty much 100 % back by fall workouts. Football players do take a little longer though. If Nick has his surgery in the next two to three weeks, he will be able to condition with the team during spring, and summer and should be good to go for sure by fall camp next year.

I feel bad for Hightower but that was not a cheap shot.

I was hoping to see Hightower be a key part of shutting down Tebow but I'm sure guys will have somebody step up with all of the studs you have recruited at LB recently.

BTW, how has Tana Patrick looked in practice?

How could they know that so fast? I'm sure he hasn't had an MRI already, much less evaluated.

flex knee 90 degrees with foot on ground. grab leg just below the knee, and try to move it forward and backward.

if there is substantial motion, the ACL is torn.

as nick's dad walked off the field he slammed his binoculars onto the concrete. security guy tossed them in the trash.

I am a friend of Nick and Shane Reveiz's and I just talked to Shane and the MRI did confirm that Nick does have a torn ACL. I hate this for him as he has worked so hard. Please keep him in your prayers.

with diagnosis confirmed, now time to get swelling down and work on ROM and then have the surgery and start the rehab. Nick can come back and have a great senior season

He really does have the "heart of a VOL." He is the hardest working guy I know and has a great heart. I know he is going to keep his head up, but it is going to be tough. It is going to be a very tough test of his faith, but he will do it I know.

Next to EB, this is definitely the biggest blow that could have hit the D. The kid ran the defense and was everywhere.

Talked to Nick a couple of hours ago. He is keeping his head up and said he appreciates the prayers. They are going to allow the swelling to go down and then have surgery in about 2 weeks. Please keep him and your family in your prayers.

I sit next to a friend of his sometimes in one of my classes, so it almost feels like I know him even though I've never met him or said a word to him in my life. He is a good guy from everything I know. I wish him a speedy recovery and I hope he is able to earn a spot playing next year.

on my first one the Dr grabbed my leg and 5 sec later said he was 99% sure it was the ACL. He said he would do the mri if I wanted but there was no need. I'm sure Nick will still get the MRI but those Dr's are very good.

I second that Yomans did mine before he retired he was the white haired gentleman always on the sideline checking players. They know right off if its an ACL.

The way they can tell is they hold your leg at the shin bone and put their other hand right above your knee and see if there is any movement. If it moves backwards its a PCL if it pulls forward its an ACL. A bone which shouldn't move, moves so its pretty easy to tell when a ligament has been torn. Thats how it was with me.
