"I think coach Dooley has proven he has the schemes. He has the right tools to compete in this league and I think we have shown flashes of that. I really feel like we can play winning football and coach Dooley knows how to do that," linebacker Nick Reveiz said.

I could not agree more.

hmmm. really???

how to compete in this league??

we are 0-5 in this league for the first time since .. well I don't know when. I went and looked at our records from back in the day and I can't find a record of us EVER being 0-5 in the conference. I'm NOT saying CDD is a failure, but so far, we have not been able to win in the SEC . Maybe we can get that done THIS weekend.

Least talent we've had in a while, no depth, etc.

There's a lot of factors in play that you are apparently ignoring.

Hmmm... did you ever stop to think that maybe our past teams haven't been as depleted as this one?

It makes me laugh every time I read a post about how bad we are without qualifying his or her statement with a knowledge of how thin and YOUNG we are across the board. This year was going to be rough, we all knew it, so quit acting surprised. :banghead2:

Also, as a Cubs fan, I figured you'd be used to losing. BOOM! :) j/k

FACTS:
1) We are very thin
2) We are very young
3) We have a new program, coach and all
4) We are getting better every week
5) We are 0-5 in SEC play.

it ALL factors into there. I agree. A win over Ole Miss heals a LOT of wounds.

I like Dooley, I think--but the team has to stop making key mistakes that give the other team touchdowns and keep us from scoring--that has killed us in two or three SEC games this year. You can't throw pick sixes and you can't fumble punts, etc. You just can't--and mistakes like that have almost nothing to do with talent.

Throwing Ints and fumbling have nothing to do with talent? Really?

Add to that... you can't have 31 sacks in 8 games... thus we have a new QB and punt returner.

Mistakes have "nothing" to do with talent? I would argue that they are a combination of a lack of discipline AND often talent. Bray certainly seems to have a knack for feeling and avoiding pressure. He definitely has a unique ability to put throws into small windows.

Discipline, hardwork, and experience can limit mistakes but talent is relevant too.

I would say they're more mental mistakes then physical mistakes.

Ever tried to field a high arching punt with 225 lb LB's bearing down on you with a full head of steam? For that matter, ever tried to field one without pressure? It is not nearly as easy as it looks.

Ah, people like you amuse me.

Nick is exactly right, he can compete in this league. We've done it just about every game, not for the whole game, but we have competed for at least part of it.

Do us all a favor, go and find another Vol team that has had 3 coaches in as many years and a roster with this kind of depth.

watch the games boss. we compete until we run out of depth and experience and then we get killed. (minus the georgia game when we didn't show up all together.) i love what CDD is doing and glad he is here. wait until we get a full roster of juniors and seniors.

For what it's worth, he said COMPETE... By all rights we should of beat LSU, played with Florida, and competed with bama for a half. I know - woulda, shoulda, coulda but I think those are signs of going in the right direction.

Of course we still have a long ways to go.

Go back and look at our records for when we had three coaches in three years. There's a price to pay for that and we're paying it this year. No new coaching staff comes in and wins right away with a piece-meal squad, especially with one of the hardest schedules in the country.

Dooley is bringing our program back, but it doesn't happen overnight. Even the great Saban needed two years to compete in the SEC.

IMO mental focus is a talent. I do think it can be sharpened by coaching and preparation. But some guys just are not mentally quick enough to process all the information coming at them on any given play.

If you cant see the reasons for this by now there is no point explaining it again.

I spoke to Nick in May and he told me pretty much the same thing. He said at that time he was very excited about this staff. Once Dooley has the horses in the barn UT football will be fun to watch again.

Well I don't know about everyone else, but I think it's fun to watch this team RIGHT NOW. We have a unique opportunity to watch this team grow-up right before our eyes. Give it 2-3 more years and we'll all be like proud parents pulling out the baby pictures... "...and this is Little Tyler when he threw his first touchdown pass:cray:"

Soooooo, you're going to argue with a player who plays for CDD and UT? I think i'd take Reveiz's opinion over yours.
