Returning Starters and Projected Starters for 2011

It's really funny that people think JJ can be replaced by a true freshman at safety.

Eric Berry's and Janzen Jackson's don't come along in every class. in fact to get two like that as close as we have is pretty outstanding.

no one should expect a 4 star to arrive and play like those 2. they were 5 stars for a reason.

I think UT will start 3 WR's most of the time, and play either the FB or TE but not both. The playmakers on this team are at WR.

That SEEMS logical, but with the added experience in the OL next year, who knows? The run game could break out (as it threatened to do at times this year).

I completely agree, but I don't think anyone's really expecting that. When you see lineups like jmoore's, you shouldn't ask yourself whether Loften can play as well as Jackson. You should ask whether Loften is better than Teague. Jackson is on the field either way. The question is where to put him, and a large part of that answer rests on who is behind him at each position.

Like always, people expect every newcomer to be better than our current roster. That won't happen.

I agree that people are prone to this, but the lineup projection in question had exactly two newcomers coming in and starting, which I think is a lot more toned-down and reasonable. My own projection has one (Couch), but if Moore or Loften wins a starting job in the secondary, I won't be shocked.

Word on the street is Hughes is gonna fail out, and people are crazy to just assume Walls and Martin are going to be 100% let alone back into good enough shape to start in the SEC after those injurys and AJ doesn't have the top end speed to start at LB in this conference

Why can't we seem to decide on whether Rivera is a Senior or Junior next year? I wish someone would clarify to end this issue....PLEASE! :)

the real question that will be answered before moving Jackson is, can whoever they put there play as well as Jackson. If not, the move won't even be considered IMO. He is too value in that position to move him. Even Jackson can't move to CB and play close to same level he currently plays at. He will have busts as he learns to play CB.

message boards have talked a 1000 times more about moving Jackson than the staff has. they have barely touched on it and until they see someone that can be close to JJ, forget it.

Above assumes JJ still here in fall. :)

Ah. I know I'd heard Dooley mention that Janzen is more natural at corner but we need him at safety because of lack of players. I guess I inferred a little too much from that. Either way, hope he's still here in the fall, and I hope we get a couple guys who can provide quality depth next year (I hear Moore could even be a starter). I don't want to go through another season with 5 DBs.

He transfered in this year as a 3rd year Sophmore.

SO he will be a 4th Jr. next year. (RS) JR in other words.

He was listed as a junior this year on both Rivals and utsports.com. So if what you say is accurate, then this is the source of the confusion.

Others involve would be:
WR-Arnett, FR (In slot formations)
TE-Brendan Downs (In double TE Sets)
KR/PR- Devrin Young (Face it this is what he was offered)
Naturally if Cameron Clear signed with us he probally would get the nod over Downs. Could also see Dallas in the same role that Da'Rick was in this year.
