I give KNEEJERK opinions. If you don't like them, ignore them, or go to a Martin fan website. You don't need to be on a vol fan website. You take a coach over a program you have nothing to do with. UT is where I went. Graduated. Met my wife. Met my best friends. You can kiss my ass

Fixed yer post fer ya, Ol' Son.

My dad went to Purdue. I was brainwashed from a young age to appreciate everything Boilermaker. I moved to South Carolina and went to Clemson for undergrad (hence the tigeralum part of my name.) I'm a huge Clemson fan, but if it was between Clemson basketball and Purdue basketball, I would go be cheering for Purdue. Like I said, I can't help it, I was brainwashed. My wife if from Knoxville, and got her doctorate at U.T. so I lived in Knoxville for about 4 years. I was looking for a reason to have a team to cheer for in the SEC and when U.T. hired Martin (one of may all time favorite Boilermakers) it gave me the perfect reason to support the Vols. I've been to a few games at Thompson Boling and think it's a great basketball venue. Anyway, I will freely admit that I'm not a VFL, but I do enjoy watching them play, and will continue to follow them regardless of Martin's decision to stay or go. Also, I support any school that beats South Carolina in football.

Gonna need pics of said wife to see if you deserve VN credentials.

I do the same...and I have one of my degrees from S Carolina.

yeah, you got me. I'm big on kneejerk reactions. Stayed with Fulmer too long. Stayed with Dooley too long. Don't like NIT's and play in games with loaded teams. God forbid people talk about what happens on the court. Too many of you smartasses are incapable, so you resort to childish stuff. I would deflect as well.

With all the namecalling, I'm not sure you can call other people childish.

My preference would be to keep Martin, and let him continue to grow as a coach, but, as was so eloquently stated early in the post, I'm a **** ***** ***** boilermaker.

Oh I agree. He seems to be trending up, and I think he's definitely earned the chance to keep building here. I more just meant if he left we have no one in the UT family to look to.

People can't stay on topic or want to just say whatever regardless of accuracy. I don't think it's cool, and there's too much of it. Not one person has debated anything about basketball with me in a week, but wants to continue to take shots. If they don't want responses, don't fire little shots. It's pretty simple. Trolls troll though and that's why they get the name.

I still welcome any of those dudes to talk basketball. Been asking for a week and still nothing.

Sparty is anything, but kneejerk.

I'm actually at the other end of the spectrum. People just can't fathom looking at 75 other games instead of just 10 and having concerns about consistently playing, recruiting and coaching well over the next 3 years.
Still hasn't recruited a rim protector. Still no shooters. Still no proven pg of the future. I like DT. Just not sure yet.
Why those stances bring up such angst and ire doesn't make much sense, but it is what it is.

Not going to lie, not a long time Vol fan here. I'm wondering if U.T. has any coaches out there, either former assistants or former players, that would be considered for a coaching job. I'm much more familiar with Purdue, and they have former coaches and former players all over the college basketball coaching ranks. I haven't heard of any coaches with U.T. connections, but like I said, I'm not a long time Vol fan.

Hi. Pertinent question. By the way, this is a tough crowd today and there's a few sore butts around...sure you can understand. :whatever:
In a word...NO!
GO VOLS!

Funny, I posted a question about any Vols in coaching and you attacked me for being a Purdue fan. I'm not sure if you see the irony of complaining about people being off topic in a thread that you derailed, but I think it's kind of funny. Please explain how this post, or anything else that I post is a "troll". Just because you don't agree with it, and get all upset and throw temper tantrums, doesn't mean I'm trolling.

Ignore him. He's overly emotional, and can't help but clutter every thread with childish name calling and derogatory remarks.

When you tell me I'm doom and gloom and have no facts when I'm giving you my opinion that Stokes is leaving, you have the problem. I have no idea if he is or not. Didn't present it as fact. I know which way many are pushing him. You dont. You've also admitted to being a Martin fan first, which makes you incapable of objectivity. I'm for what's best for UT. You are for Martin. I'm fine with differing opinions from opposite spectrums and would expect it.

Wait, I'm confused. Wouldn't the doom and gloom opinion be that Stokes is leaving and the program is going down the toilet and will be terrible for the next 2 years (summarizing a few of your posts)? That is certainly not the optimistic view of things. Why are you so upset that I'm saying you are doom and gloom, when your opinion is that the program is doomed for the next 2 years?

It's kind of a shame we don't have a former Vol coaching somewhere that we could bring back home.

Maybe Allan Houston would give coaching a shot ...

Tyler Summitt is assistant at "Marquette".

Sparty is anything, but kneejerk.

If he would actually talk b-ball with folks instead of being so quick to prove his b-ball IQ and shove it down everyones throat while calling them trolls and dumbazzes it would be different. But it's not, and he wonders why no one wants to 'debate' him.

It's now so much so that folks don't want the debate as it is they'd rather watch the show. No ticket required to watch this guy prove narcissism is real.

Like most folks on these boards I don't claim to be an expert. I was born and raised less than an hours ride from Knoxville. I follow my VOLS but I'm no guru, I just enjoy talking ball and some good natured razzing, but not debating with a guy calling folks trolls, gtfo, etc.

It's amazing the coaching trees Tennessee has in football vs the lack of one in basketball.. I can't think of any single men's coach in the Div 1 ranks with solid ties.
