Will make a huge difference. Butch just stated Kelley will be 100 percent ready to start. Our secondary will look much better.

Also, not too sure why everyone on here seems scared of OU...games like this are almost always won in the trenches.

Averaging 3 yards per carry against Akron won't cut it against us.

If you read between the lines of all the quotes from the players its pretty evident they have been saving everything up for the OU game.

As much as Butch tries to state otherwise in his coach speak...this is the big one they gave been mentally preparing for all off season.

My only concern this game is the MLB position, but overall, I think we will win this one by multiple scores. OU is a one dimensional offense this year with a very bad oline.

They have plenty of skill position talent, but their finesse style and oline is nothing to be afraid of....they will ultimately go only as far as the oline takes them and air raiding Akron isn't anything to write home about. At least BG had a good rush defense last year.

I love our new mentality on offense. It's going to be a very long day on Saturday for the Sooners.

I am extremely happy we are as deep as we are in the secondary because it would mean trouble if not. I think Gaulden would have balled out this year but if we can get Justin Martin healthy and living up to his potential while also trusting Moseley over there on the other side that could open up for Cam "Bam Bam" Sutton to get more involved in the nickel and also the run game where he is a beast

While I agree the secondary will look better, will it be enough? I still fear OU hitting some explosive pass plays on us. Our dline has to live in their backfield and they should honestly

I've heard Neyland be the loudest place and I've heard it the quiet as a church mouse. Here's to hoping that when/if we give up a big play(s), that it doesn't let the air out of the stadium. Firmly believe that if UT's 2ndary can patch the holes and our MLB can pin his ears back, that if it tied in the 4th, that the crowd will monumentally help the Vols pull out the win.

-Have a feeling that we'll be seeing a bunch of delayed draw plays based on the pass rush from Curt and Derrick, it'll put one of they're best players on one of our most untested players.

Let's also remember that Bowling Green had a very veteran offensive line. If I recall correctly, the same five starters have started for 3 years.

I haven't watched much OU football, but I was not aware they ran a "finesse" offense. Care to elaborate?

They start 2 Seniors and 2 Juniors for WR and 1 Senior on TE. Our secondary doesn't have much experience. They will throw deep, and throw deep more.

Their O-line isn't that weak as much as people think. They start 3 seniors, (2 Redshirt), a redshirt FR, and a Sophomore.

They will have some big plays, but without a solid run game we will wear them down and most likely win the turnover battle.

Prediction:

UT 38
OU 27

But if we get rolling earlier it very well could get much uglier for them.

I've been on some Sooner forums and even they are concerned about their O-line, and we all know how important O-line play is to the entire offense.

20 minutes into the game, Akron had more yards than Oklahoma, and OU had -2 yards rushing. They can't afford a slow start in Neyland. They had no motivation, juice; meanwhile, our offense was quick, efficient.

Bowling Green would whip Akron everyday.

After seeing our game and theirs, and having Kelly back and Martinez coaching, I feel much better about our chances.

Agree but I think JUSTIN MARTIN needs to see the field...its very evident that Malik, Micah, and Emanuel, all struggled. Justin Martin Is a grown man for a college football player and hes the type of player that if a coach points to an OU reciever and says "Lock Him Down" he will be all over him like stank on sh*t. Along with verbally letting any receiver that tries him know... "NOT IN MY HOUSE SON" He has that IT factor...Anyone else agree?

Our secondary doesn't have much experience.

Randolph is a 4 year starter and Cam a 3 year starter. TKJr and Mosely both started some last season. In the world of college football I would consider that at least "average" experience?

I generally a sunshine pumper but I will say this: they have better receivers than BG. I was disappointed in all our corners besides sutton. We need 5 or 6 sacks and better play by our safeties corners and especially linebackers. They will focus on the weakness that was exposed by the tightends. The flats were wide open Saturday vs. BG. Their offense is based on quick passes to backs and receivers on screens. We cannot have linebackers showing up late to their elite running backs on wheel routes and passes to the flats. We will get killed. Also can't get beat repeatedly on deep post routes, though I doubt we run into any qb that throws it as well as the one we just faced.

I just don't think Martin can come and play "lights out" in his first game as if he were close to being ready then I think he would have got about 10 snaps last week to see where he was in his health and conditioning. I think OU saw enough on film vs BG that they will make MOSELY & Abernathy defend ALL DAY until they stop it and if they don't then that means we have to drop a safety or two then you have the domino effect of trying to stop big ol Perine.............which is not good as we could not stop them small RBs of BG

What's the official word on Justin Martin???

If we get him and TKjr starting this game we will win in a blowout.

From watching Stoops coach's show, I saw a lot of screens, swing passes, and wheel routes. I saw one long post route ( incomplete) and two shots down the sideline similar to the ones Mosely got beat on ( both incomplete).
Mayfield seemed to struggle with that sideline route - that is a very tough throw despite BG's success.

What really jumped out at me was how far back Akron's DBs were playing off of the line against the OKL WRs who were out in double formation with one 3-4 yds off the LOS.

That's the play that OKIE ran repeatedly and racked up yds! Akron never made any adjustments.

Anyone know how strong the OU defense is? If their defense is weak, I feel like even if our defense does an average job, we can beat them in a shootout.

Todd Kelly is a top 3 saftey in the conference. He will be second best only to Berry when he is done.

Front seven with be the strength of this defense. They will be experienced, talented and have some good size but not the size of Kahlil McKenzie. Tackles in the rotation go 300# except for a starter that goes 260#. DE end average 250# with the star on defense weighing only 222#.
