Return of the Fulmerites

I'm speaking as a Vol fan from the Millennial generation.

We are a generation that is used to expressing our valuable opinions on social media and effecting change with those opinions.

You are basically saying that you are used to complaining loudly online and getting your way.

Fulmer ain't perfect. All you need to know at this point in time is he didn't pick these two, and the guy who did was about to pick again. In baseball, 3 strikes means you are out. We at least have a chance to get on base now.

I'm speaking as a Vol fan from the Millennial generation. My generation is tired of old white retreads making all of the decisions regarding coaching hires, coaching firings, financial decisions etc. We need a youth movement in all areas of our athletic administration from the BOT down to the waterboy on the team. We are a generation that is used to expressing our valuable opinions on social media and effecting change with those opinions. We do not like or appreciate top down, authoritative decision making from out of touch old white men when it has a huge effect on the world we live in. We as a generation understand the times better than those over age 45 and it is high time that we are given our due in the decision making on the Hill. Not only here but across this country in all areas of social, political, financial and religious areas of society. We are the future and we are a special generation who has arrived at just the right time to move this country and the world in a better direction based on our vision for the future.

White? Identity politics 101. Lump everyone with a skin color into a group. If we ingnored color and treated people with the respect they deserve based on their social and intellectual contributions, we would be much better off. Don't label me by my race.

No, he has NEVER taken responsibility for running the program in to the ground. Egos running amuck! Do not expect anything from the good ole boy network worth a crap. I'll gladly eat my words & give the apology if I'm wrong but I wouldn't bet on it. :cray:

nega vol

On board with Fulmer! The man loves TN and bleeds orange! He has always been in the shadows supporting our Vols in the good and bad! Time to unite! this is the first step in 10 years to getting our program out of the gutter! You think it has not been gut wrenching for him as well to watch Vanderbilt, Kentucky and the bottom dwellers kick our ass! He means to do something about it! Go Vols

Note in his speech today he said “the direction of the program the last 9 years” or, since his well deserved firing. Way to man up to your own failings there, Phil. He still won’t admit any wrongdoing.

Fulmer took us to the top of college football, he also took us to the bottom. It would be nice to see him at least recognize that.

I’m prepared to be underwhelmed by his choice for coach.

FULMER did not take us to the bottom. seems like that belongs to Hammy, Hart, Currie, and Butch

Coach Fulmer is here.....Everyone stay cool.

I sat in the stands in 2008 as Alabama proceeded to play rammer jammer in Neyland Stadium after blasting Tennessee at Home. There were approximately 30k bammers in the stands that night. As we know, UT went 5-7 that year. As we are now, that was the bottom.

Fulmers transgressions are not forgotten. He started the slide.

This.

The idea that we have been saved by the very incompetent man that started this, is ludicrous.

fulmer is a slug. always has been, always will be. we just gave the keys to the guy who ran us into the ditch. has there ever been a fired coach who was hired as the ad? could be another first. only at tn would you fire a guy then hire him to essentially replace himself. unbelievable.

Indeed.

I've read a LOT of stupid stuff on this site. This definitely ranks in the Top 5...may even be the winner.

You are a "special" kind of youthful stupidity. You want power, responsibility and decision making power without ever doing anything to earn any of that. You are the twentysomething entry level employee at the company who is 2-3 years out of college (and who spent the last two years doing your post-grad work at Starbucks) but who is appalled at the decisions of upper management, the BOD and CEO. Those people who have spent decades developing their skills, careers and climbing the ladder or founding and growing the company. However, you are CERTAIN that because you are a part of the Twitter generation you know better than all of their collective wisdom and could run things better. You sir are an unmitigated idiot. Please don't post here for another 10 - 20 years then let us know if you feel the same way. You guys certainly are the "me generation."

Wait, are you saying last weekend wasn’t the bottom? Don’t know if I can think of a more damaging 48 hours, outside of massive criminal behavior. And last weekend had nothing to do with Fulmer.

Question to the fulmerites: Who could the new ad bring in that'll be better than leach?

Thanks... I needed that response.

That poster either did a nice troll job, or provided evidence that drugs are indeed bad for the brain.

Any questions you have about winning at a championship level ask us. It was a good feeling not being taken over by apathy. Actually witness Tee and teammates win the National Title.
The worst part of that period was watching Peyton and his teammates fall to Florida year after year.

I have no interest in arguing the merits of our respective generations but I will say this: One of the hallmarks of youthful idealism is its inability to recognize its own narrow field of view. You're not the first generation to be convinced you've figured out all the things your idiot forebears couldn't; you're probably more like the 700th. And in a lot of ways you'll be right (although any generation that doesn't benefit from the previous generations' screw-ups is truly a lost generation).

But, whereas I used to think it sad that the world has a tendency to beat the idealism out of you the longer you stay in it, now I realize that it's more a matter of the inevitable tempering of idealism with the inescapable murkiness of practicality. You just realize the problems are way, way, way more complex than you could have known before you waded through a few decades. Of course, that's the same tired old line every older generation has fed the younger: "You'll understand when you're older!" It's bull**** and it's not, decide how much when you get there.

For now, though, just don't confuse having a lot more information with having more answers. And understand that a day will come when your kids, with whatever label their generation ends up getting, point out how stupid and clueless you Millennials were and you didn't even know it. And they'll be right and they'll be wrong.

Finally, all of the foregoing really amounts to just this: Scotch is my friend. Probably you shouldn't make it yours quite so much.

This GenXer approves of your message.

Step your millennial ass right on up and start donating. Until then, sit down, shut up, and let the adults talk. You have no due, you aren't owed a damn thing but you got one thing right, you are special.

Edit:. You guys are so much nicer than I am. I have a real issue with this **** since both of my kids are considered millennials. They would beat this guys ass. They despise most of their supposed generation.
